Associate General CounselSocial and Human Services NonprofitNew York City (Hybrid) Salary: $130,000 to $150,000 per year based on experienceTerrific Associate General Counsel position with a social and human services nonprofit in the New York City area. The Associate General Counsel will be an integral member of the organization, serving as a strategic legal advisor to the executive team. The role will focus heavily on legal transactional work and contracts management. The Associate General Counsel will also serve as the Director of Compliance for the organization, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and guidelines, as well as overseeing the enterprise risk management program. The position will eventually manage one Legal Compliance Specialist. Candidates should have approximately 5+ years of related legal experience. J.D. and admission to the New York State Bar is required. Experience with employment law is a plus. This position currently operates on a hybrid schedule with two days in office. The salary range is $130,000 to $150,000 per year, based on experience. Responsibilities:Review contracts and commercial leasesImplement systems to ensure efficiency in the contracting processDevelop and maintain agency policiesServe as the expert on compliance topics within the organizationManage and oversee the risk management functionCollaborate with outside counsel on litigationDevelop and maintain legal databases Manage and mentor a Legal Compliance Specialist in the futureQualifications:Approximately 5+ years of relevant legal experienceExperience with employment law is a plusJ.D. from an accredited law school and member of the New York State BarExperience with legal transactions and contract managementA self-starter, with the ability to handle a large volume of projectsContract management software experience a plusExcellent writing and communication skillsExperience utilizing contract management softwareEqual opportunity employer.
