Job DescriptionAbout the RoleThe New York Times is looking for an experienced and proactive contracts and legal professional to assist with drafting, review and negotiation of commercial contracts and project management. You will report to Senior Counsel within the Commercial Business and Legal Affairs (CBLA) team. The contracts manager will be based in the New York headquarters on a hybrid (in-officeremote) schedule, in the office 3 daysweek.Responsibilities:Support manager and CBLA team on a range of contracts and mattersReview and negotiate redlines to our standard agreementsDraft amendments, statements of work (SOWs), terminations, master services agreements and other related documentsCreate and use company templates, playbooks and systems to support the tasks above, and escalate concerns for attorney reviewMaintain internal databases, playbooks and contract management systems to support contract review and negotiation, and identify opportunities to streamline processes and templatesReview government bid documents and Requests for Proposal (RFPs) against internal databases and contract templates to ensure compliancePartner with NYT Enterprise Subscription, Licensing and other internal business teams across the companyCommunicate confidently with clients, vendors and other outside partiesConduct other projects and oversee other matters as assigned by managerDemonstrates support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.Basic Qualifications:Bachelor's DegreeMinimum 5 years of experience in a contracts professional role drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial contractsStrong experience drafting and negotiating contracts using templates and using and creating playbooksExperience working with contract policies and procedures within a corporate business settingStrong organizational skills, and experience leading projects and agreements from conception to completion independentlyExcellent writing skillsStrong attention to detail and ability to balance time sensitive competing demandsExperience handling sensitive, confidential informationPreferred Qualifications:Experience with IroncladFamiliarity with intellectual property (IP), licensing, vendor procurement, data privacy (CIPPUS certification), government contracting, or Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARs)The annual base pay range for this role is between $110,000.00 and $125,000.00#LI-HybridThe New York Times is committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce, one that reflects the varied global community we serve.
