At Cheryl Jefferson & Associates, we differentiate ourselves through exceptional service and a unique culture, emphasizing working smarter not harder.Role Overview:The Accounting Associate plays a critical role in advanced bookkeeping, reconciliations, GL account analysis, and special projects aimed at developing innovative client service strategies. Your work will directly impact client satisfaction and efficiency within the firm.Key Responsibilities:ACCCOUNTINGPrepare detailed workpapers, analysis, memos, and other documenta on to support conclusions Ensuring that work is error free and ready for the technical review Preparing business tax returns (less than 10 per year) Preparing loan amortization schedules, prepaid schedules, and othersUpdating and maintaining depreciation schedulesAnalyzing a complex reconciliation issuesPreparing adjusting journal entriesIdentify problems and work closely with clients to adjust their trial balanceMonth end closings for our outsourced accounting clientsReviewing work of data entry team members or stepping in when necessaryResearching accounting or tax topics and documenting findingsAssisting other team members as neededPAYROLLSetting up leave, benefits and deductions with correct taxabilityOnboarding new client employees in the payroll systemProcessing payroll using an online payroll serviceRecording after-the-fact payroll entries, taxes, and benefitsReconciling payroll expense, leave, retirement and other payroll related problemsTroubleshooting tax registration and liability issues CONSULTINGProviding accounting and consulting advice to small business clientsTroubleshoot, train and advise clients using QuickBooks, PROCAS, or other systemsResearching and responding to client questions regarding Federal Acquisition Regulations. CLIENT SERVICEDeveloping an understanding and knowledge of the firm's client service approach, professional requirements, and lines of business Developing an understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulations and government contract accounting Maintaining accurate records and descriptions of work performed for projectsWriting blogs and submiting editorials for social media postingThis position is FULL-TIME| W-2 Employee | Monday - Friday |40 hours per week.
