Senior Budget AccountantPosition SummaryThe Senior Budget Accountant executes a variety of analytical and administrative accounting activities for the Agency. Responsibilities include, but not limited to the maintenance, analysis, and interpretation of financial accounting data; budgeting, preparation and posting of various journals, ledgers and accounts, analysis, and presentation of financial data; preparation of financial statements and expenditure reports. The position will be supervised by the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis.Perform accounting functions as assigned including, but not limited to the monthly and year-end closing procedures.Ascertain monthly general ledger entries, and accruals are recorded in a timely fashion in accordance with month-end, year-end closing timelines.Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual P&L financial statements to ensure accuracy and in accordance to generally accepted accounting principles.Analyze and interpret financial data results.Research and resolve discrepancies; make recommendations regarding improvements to the accounting and budgeting procedures processes.Assist in the completion of the Agency annual filing requirements, including but not limited to:Consolidated Fiscal Report (CFR)Internal Revenue Service Form 990Pension AuditAssist in preparing assigned schedules for the annual and interim audits.Assist in preparation of monthly P&L financial statements, management reports and accompanying schedules, worksheets, and narratives, including "Budget vs. Actual" variance analysis.Assist in preparing andor analyzing departmental budget forecast.Assist in providing follow-up and documentation of significant budget variances.Assist in preparation of the yearly petenciesEffectively communicate; generate professional written material and deliver valuable verbal presentations.Strong planning and organizational skills, including a keen attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple tasks, work under pressure and meet deadlines.Strong Customer focus and the ability to work with internal and external petent to work independently, take initiative, set priorities and see projects through to completion.Demonstrate interpersonal and presentation skills for frequent contact with clients and co-workers.Highly developed problem solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.Demonstrates a positive attitude, integrity and socialcultural awareness and sensitivityEducation and Experience RequirementsBachelor's degree and six (6) years of accounting experience; two in nonprofit budgeting highly preferredBudgeting and financial reporting and analysis experience - minimum two yearsAbility and willingness to travel to interstate and within stateKnowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Good interpersonal and oral and written communication skills to effectively present reportsStrong experience with MS Office suite, particularly ExcelThe Center for Family Support provides equal employment opportunities to all.
