Job DescriptionAssists faculty with preparation, setup, inspection of equipment and monitoring of HVAC lab activities. Perform routine, preventative maintenance and repairs on laboratory equipment and testing instrument as scheduled and as required, identifies safety hazards such as equipment malfunction, damage tools and ensure that the training equipment is in safe operating conditions.ResponsibilitiesAssists faculty in setting up shop equipmenttrainers for activities as planned by instructors.Monitors students while they perform their lab assignments and ensures that they are performing the proper safety protocols.Responsible for providing technical support to student's while performing their laboratory assignments.Participates in program workshops, information sessions, recruitment and special events.Maintains all necessary schedules and records for the laboratory.Assists faculty in the preparation of lab assignments, maintaining supply list and insuring ample supplies are on hand prior to the start of class.Ensures that all equipment, tools and supplies are in order and secure before leaving the laboratory.Under the direction of the Department Chair, assists in performing inventory of instruments, tools and equipment.Identifies occurrences of equipment malfunction or breakage and needs for equipment replacement or addition; repairs equipment, including trainers.Assists with verifying capital equipment inventory.Processes all handouts for printing. Ensures all adjunct faculty receive correct copies of course syllabi and handouts.Creates and maintains a library and reference system of department books and periodicals.Assists students with independent practice of skills as taught and evaluated by teaching faculty.Attends faculty meetings, as municates as necessary with facultyprogram coordinator and related programs to share essential information and discuss plans and problems.Works with various College departments to facilitate information communication as appropriate.Prepares various reports and maintains various records.Performs related duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation: High School diploma or equivalent required with college level technical training certifications and industry-based certifications, or Associate in Applied Science in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. Must be EPA certified to properly handle refrigerant.Experience: Minimum of 2 years of technical experience maintaining and repairing various types of mechanical and electrical HVACR equipment and customer service support. Must be computer literate with basic keyboarding skills, and knowledge of Microsoft software such as Word and Microsoft Excel. (Building Automation Systems software plus). Able to work independently with strong self-management and professionalism. must be courteous, have an outgoing and positive attitude, be a team player, be willing to work with anyone person attending the program which includes faculty, staff, students, and guests of the program.About UsWe are Harper College...the college in your community.The College was established by referendum in 1965 and opened September 1967.
