We are a high energy, innovative neighborhood leader in programs that improve our communities' health & wellbeing with diversity in mind.Job DescriptionThe Oakland Y Aquatics Department is currently hiring part-time Aquatic Fitness Instructors. We are looking for instructors with experience in teaching Aqua Zumba, Aqua Fit, Aqua Aerobics, Water Fitness OR land-based instructors with experience teaching group exercise who have an interest in expanding their teaching to include water-based classes.Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, the Aquatic Fitness Instructor will develop and lead a minimum of one weekly class, providing frequently updated music and skill modification as appropriate. Instructors are not required to teach from inside the water.We are primarily looking for individuals with availability:8:00-10:00am: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, andor Saturday mornings11:00am-12:00pm: Tuesday andor Thursday morningsOther availability welcome.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: •Minimum of 18 years of age•Current YMCA approved CPRAEDStandard First Aid (within 90 days of hire)•Water fitness instructor certification OR a combination of education andor experience teaching group exercise classes•Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper skill technique and provide skill modification when appropriate.Desired Characteristics: •Provides quality member service•Good communication with membership base and supervisor•Connects well with adults of all ages and diverse backgrounds•Professional demeanor - punctuality and shift consistencyAdditional Information We are currently looking for applicants with availability during mornings (primarily Wednesday, Friday andor Saturday mornings, 8-10am AND Tuesday andor Thursday mornings, 11:00am-12:00pm). Compensation: $21.00-$24.00, DOE and certificationsFree membership to all YMCAs
