Position SummaryLeading financial guaranty insurance company is seeking a seasoned transactional lawyer to join a small team of highly-experienced transactional lawyers in New York and be responsible for providing legal advice and assistance on U.S. and international structured finance transactions.Position DescriptionSupport the deal origination teams responsible for U.S. and international structured finance transactions in the structuring, negotiation and documentation of such transactionsWork closely with the credit teams in New York and London responsible for vetting the transactions in identifying and potentially structuring around credit-related and other issuesAssist the surveillance teams in New York and London with the ongoing monitoring of closed transactions (including assisting with transaction amendments, waivers and consents)Manage and ensure the effectiveness of external legal support where appropriateCandidate BackgroundAt least 6 years of experience in a leading financial services law firmStrong experience with complex transactions, with a focus on asset-backed structured financeSensitive to legal and commercial risks, including bankruptcy issuesExcellent academic qualificationsExcellent oral and written communications skillsOrganized self-starter who is able to work independently but seeks out views of legal and credit colleagues when requiredAbility to prioritize issues and manage outside counsel is criticalStrong presentation and negotiation skillsWillingness to take on varied tasksCompensationAnnual base salary for the position is expected to be from $260,000 per year to $280,000 per year. The actual salary will depend on various factors, including but not limited to a candidate's experience and credentials, salary expectations of applicable candidates, and other applicable market conditions. This position also provides applicable employee benefits, as well as eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus and long-term incentive awards.
