The Pershing Square Center's public lobby Caf' and Bar accommodates more than 300 guests, offers free WiFi and serves a range of signature drinks that capture the essence of our live performances. Guests from our diverse audiences can savor beverages and special cocktails while immersing themselves in our creative space. We're on the lookout for a passionate, reliable individual who embody the art for being professional and would enjoy hosting at a home for storytellers and a space for pensationThis is a part-time non-exempt position. The base rate of pay is $18.00 per hour. A Signature bartender will also earn tips. Bartenders at Signature who work more than 40 hours in a work week, are eligible for overtime pay. Overtime pay is hourly calculated at one and half times the base rate of pay.ConsiderationsAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, creed, ancestry, national origin, citizenship, religion, gender, sex, sexual orientation, affectional preference, gender identity or expression, sexual and reproductive health decisions, pregnancy, disability, genetic predisposition, age, military or veteran status, marital or familial status, or any other protected characteristic, in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws.RequirementsResponsibilities•Maintain all health and safety practices for all areas of the Caf & Bar, including compliance with State Liquor Laws.•Assess patrons' needs and preferences and make recommendations and ensure that excellent customer service is delivered.•Maintain food & beverage compliance standards.•Foster a welcoming and respectful climate among all team members and patrons.•Will work nights, weekends, and holidays (when applicable).•Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a fast-paced work environment.•Reliably complete all assigned setup and breakdown tasks.•Handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensure charges are accurate and return correct change to patrons.•Maintain a clean work and bar area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment.•Maintain an accurate cash drawer throughout the night and be able to account for any and all discrepancies in the final drawer tally.•Bartender will be scheduled to assist the Caf and Bar Manager on events happening at Signature Theatre such as opening nights, galas, and any other special events.•Bartender will be responsible for closing and cleaning the bar at the end of the shift, including but not limited to writing shift reports, inventory restock, cleaning and resetting bar equipment, and closing the cash register.•Assist Caf and Bar Manager with any other duties that may be assigned duties.Desired Skills and Experience•Knowledge of POS system (Square knowledge a plus).•In-depth knowledge of wine, spirits, and cocktails.•Excellent written and spoken communication skills.•Self-motivated with outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.•Positive, engaging personality, and professional appearance.•Handles well under pressure while coordinating a wide range of activities.•In-depth knowledge of NYC Department of Health standards.•Passion and knowledge of the Off-Broadway and Broadway community a plus.•Previous Bartender experience is preferred or a minimum of 1-year experience in food servicehospitality.•Food Handler's Certificate preferred.
