Job DescriptionSUMMARY: Support Mechanical Design activities for new products, innovations, and development projects including defining system and component specifications, system modeling (simulationanalysis), elastomeric integration, prototyping, and testing. Design Mechanical system architecture for fixed wing and rotary wing components including, but not limited to, anti-vibration systems, primarysecondary structures, and mechanical devices. Coordinate with all engineering disciplines such as project engineering, test lab, design, analysis, customer technical focal, and suppliers to support new project development.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Mechanical Design: Design new anti-vibration systems and mechanical devices. Investigate existing products for application and integration of beneficial improvements, innovations, or mechatronic system applications. Technical: Manage the technical details of the design process including the suppliers, research support, and customer interface. Support project proposals, estimates, and schedules. Lead research work, promote innovation, develop testing requirements, and make presentations for projects, status, and results.Simulation Analysis: Prepare simulations (MATLAB) of mechanical systems (hydraulic, pneumatic, kinematic, or elastomeric) for performance validation. Investigate degraded conditions or poor performance characteristics and failsafe designs. Testing: Define test procedures and experiments. Perform testing to evaluate system performance, calibration, validation, research, and troubleshoot systems. Create new and modified designs, 3D models, 2D drawings, Bill of Material, and drawing changes across several product lines. Coordinate with project engineer, test lab, and manufacturing to update drawings and ensure timely drawing release through document control system. Define and manage design features for structural, non-structural, hardware, interface control, materials, and finishes to produce 2D drawings for fabrication, inspection, and procurement. Define the appropriate materials, tempers, forms, welding, casting, forging, tolerances, and hardware for fabrication and cost-effective manufacturing.Prepare documentation, analysis, test reports, specifications, etc. to be submitted to customers or FAA for aircraft certification purposes.Participate in preparing technical proposals. Participate in design reviews.Report and present projects findings to staff and customers.Support production and MRB activities.Travel occasionally. Mainly North America, Europe, Asia andor South America as required.Perform miscellaneous duties as required.Education andor Experience (minimum): Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Aerospace or similar. 5-8 years of mechanical engineering and laboratory engineering experience. Experience and proficient in both classical and numerical methods in solving analytical problems. Knowledge of mechanical drawing, design principles and practices, general principles of dynamics, strength of materials, mechanical engineering, and familiarity with materials and processes used in the aerospace industry. A background in the use of elastomers as an engineering material and vibration is preferred.Design Skills: Proficient at 3D modeling using CATIA. Proficient with 3DExperience or other similar PLM system. Expert at mechanical drawing and design principles and practices, geometric tolerancing, general principles of dynamics, strength of materials, stack-up tolerance analysis, and familiarity with materials and processes used in the aerospace industry. Familiarity with 3Dprinting. Knowledge of FEM principles. Have a good understanding of stress, finite element fatigue and vibration analysis.Engineering Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts used in engineering, statistics, calculus and basic accounting principles. Use data analysis to interpret puter Skills: Working knowledge in CAD (Catia) Windows operating system, MS Office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Acrobat, and other PC programs. Proficient in Excel, Visual Basic, Python, Scripting, Simulink, and MATLAB.Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch and lift light to heavy weighing items.
