The Executive Compensation & Employee Benefits Knowledge Management Lawyer (KML) is responsible for helping to develop the practice group's knowledge strategy and implementing projects to meet the group's knowledge needs. With the support of the Knowledge Department, this role develops best practices to increase effectiveness and efficiency within the practice group and works closely on a day-to-day basis with attorneys to ensure adoption. The ECEB KML will also collaborate with the Central KML to implement projects for other practice groups in the firm not supported by a dedicated KML. The KML will leverage their legal expertise and understanding of the needs of practicing attorneys to create and organize research materials, standard forms, clauses, model documents, matter profiles, other data compilations, substantive know-how and precedents.This role is also responsible for supporting the group's thought leadership and business development efforts by actively monitoring and sharing market developments, and trends in the law or business environment.Responsibilities:Knowledge StrategyPartner closely with practice group attorneys and Knowledge Department functions to identify, develop and implement solutions and best practices for the groupCoordinate with the Applied Analytics and Practice Solutions teams to evaluate and pilot legal technology including artificial intelligence applications that enhance the delivery of legal servicesKnowledge Bank & Matter ManagementCreate, develop, organize, update and maintain forms, precedents, clauses, checklists, data points, and other work product and substantive content for the groupWork with attorneys to establish processes to capture matter descriptions and categorizations in the Firm's experience management system (i.e. Litera Foundation Firm Intelligence Platform)Work with practicing attorneys to determine which matters should be profiled and identify matter attributes and data points that should be trackedThought Leadership Monitor and inform the group of important legal and market developments; author and publish client alerts on such developmentsSupport the group's thought leadership efforts, including working with partners on writing and editing articles and external presentation materialsBusiness DevelopmentAssist and coordinate with Business Development on preparation of pitch-books and relevant materials for business development, as neededMonitor and disseminate information relating to client preferences and compliance protocols, including updates and changes to templates, forms and best practice guidesTraining & MentorshipWork with the Firm's training personnel to identify practice-related training needs of the practice group; assist with development of materials, as neededMentor associates by providing them with best practices and assistance locating precedents, practice-related knowledge resources and other work product; serve as a source of legal, market and practical expertiseCollaborationCollaborate with the Central KM Lawyer on projects such as organizing precedent collections and other substantive content, for other practice groups not supported by a dedicated KML (e.g. Exempt Organizations)Collaborate with other business support functions to support the needs of the groupProvide other knowledge support to the practice group as may be assigned by the Practice Group Head, Chief Knowledge & Innovation Officer, or KM DirectorEducation:J.D. or equivalentSkills & Experience:Minimum of five years of experience in an executive compensation and employee benefits practiceExtensive knowledge of relevant legal practices and documentsAbility to handle multiple project workstreams and timelines across multiple practice groups and departments simultaneouslyOutstanding communication skills, both written and verbalSelf-starter and highly motivated; quick learner with ability to translate concepts and insights from one practice group to anotherStrong customer service and prompt response time to incoming requestsAttention to detail and excellent organizational skillsAbility to solve problems, both for technical issues and in situations involving collaboration with attorneys and non-legal staffdepartmentsDemonstrated good business judgment and analytical skillsSalary InformationNY Only: The estimated base salary range for this position is $240,000 to $280,000 at the time of posting.The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives andor from which they will be performing the job.
