Summary: The Manager supervises a team of case managers and senior case managers and provides direct client services to victims of gender-based violence, including domestic violence, elder abuse, human trafficking, at the NYC Family Justice Center, Manhattan.Essential Job Functions: Provide individual and group supervision and support to specified case managers, in accordance with Safe Horizon's quality supervision policy;Monitor staff performance through regular observation of client work and documentation and coach staff in providing client-centered intake and screening, safety assessments and risk management plans;Provide coverage as needed for frontline services (reception desk, intake, and screening of walk-in clients);Provide crisis intervention, short term supportive counseling, case management, and information and referrals to FJC clients;Advocate for clients and guide staff to provide effective advocacy for clients navigating systems including criminal and civil justice systems, crime victim compensation, shelters, mental health treatment, public assistance and other entitlements;Oversee the provision of emergency practical assistance for clients including transportation, food vouchers, financial assistance, emergency cell phones, and lock replacement;Perform data entry into a computerized record keeping system and maintain thorough and accurate case records and statistics;In partnership with the Safe Horizon program director, recruit and train new staff assigned to the NYC Family Justice Center, Brooklyn (FJC);In partnership with the program director, review and ensure the accuracy of statistical management and funder reports, and contract compliance for the NYC Mayor's Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence (ENDGBV) and the NYS Office of Victim Services;Act as a liaison between Safe Horizon and agency partners including the Mayor's Office to End Domestic and Gender Based Violence, the Kings County District Attorney's Office, and other partners at the FJC;Conduct educational presentations and trainings and participates in outreach events for community groups about the criminal justice system, domestic violence, and other related topics;Participate in staff meetings, community meetings and relevant trainings and seminars (some travel throughout NYC is required);Work collaboratively with other Safe Horizon programs to facilitate linkages for clients; andVarious other duties to be determined by supervisor.Supervisory Reports: Approximately five staff. Interacts with: The Mayor's Office to End Domestic and Gender Based ViolenceThe Manhattan Attorney's OfficeNew York City Police DepartmentOffice of Victim ServicesNew York City Administration for Children's ServicesSocial service providers and civil legal providers at the Family Justice CenterCourt personnelNew York City Housing AuthorityKnowledge and Skills: Required: Commitment to the vision and mission of Safe Horizon;Master's or BA degree in social work, counseling, human services, or related field - or equivalent experience;Experience working in a social service setting providing short-term counseling or case management;Sensitivity and experience with andor knowledge of domestic and gender- based violence;Excellent interpersonal skills and positive attitude, with the ability to work well with people of diverse educational, cultural, and professional backgrounds;Strong verbal and written communications abilitiesAbility to solve problems, exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and cope with stress and crises in a calm manner;Willingness and ability to be flexible with work schedule (some weekday evening hours may be required);Highly motivated, with capacity to take initiative and thrive in a fast-paced environment; andComputer proficiency in Microsoft Office for BusinessDesirable:Minimum two (2) years of experience working with victims and survivors of trauma andor crime;Experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse teamSupervisory experience;Familiarity with NYC social service landscape and court systems;Bilingual in Spanish or another language spoken by client population.Technology Statement:Applicants may be responsible for providing the equipment and tools they need to work remotely as required, such as access to a computer, internet service, and phone service.
