The Nurse Educator is the clinical expert in evidence-based nursing practice in the areas assigned. Being a hands-on clinical expert in home care, they will work under the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice for Nursing Professional Development roles established by the American Nurse's Credentialing Center (ANCC) to include: Educator, Consultant, Researcher, Facilitator, Change Agent, and Leader. The Nurse Educator will also exemplify the eight nursing characteristics identified in the AACN Synergy Model (Clinical Judgment, Facilitation of Learning, Response to Diversity, Clinical lnquiry, Systems Thinking, Collaboration, Advocacy, and Caring Practices). Under the direction of the DoN, the Nurse Educator will utilize the Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practice Model, and apply the nursing process in the assessment of practice gaps, identification of learning needs, planning, implementing, and evaluation of progress and outcomes. ln addition, the Nurse Educator will ensure that all regulatory documentations are completed within the regulated time framesDuties & ResponsibilitiesAREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIESNursing EducationGeneral Education Nursing ResearchQuality Assurance and Performance ImprovementSUMMARY of DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIESCompetency-Based Education Tools Develops, disseminates, monitors, and evaluates the pathway to competency. Tracks and trends progress of nursing competency and reports findings to DoNs, ADNs, AsDNs. Validates competence through the evaluation of synthesis of skills, knowledge, and performance. Reviews the self-assessment of newly hired (registered professional and licensed practical nurses) and tailor competency-based orientation to meet those needs. Provides validation of competency through the use of supervisory field visits, prepost-tests, return demonstration; evidence of daily work, case studiesscenarios, exemplars, discussionreflection groups, presentations, mock events, and transfer knowledge and skills specific to all the body systems. Supports annual and as needed performance evaluations of nurses in collaboration with DoNs, Assistant Directors of Nursing (ADN) and Associate Directors of Nursing (AsDNs) through observation, record review and joint field visits. Nursing Education and Training Design Incorporates principles of adult learning and knowledge of cultural differences in formal and informal educational activities through effective instructional interactions. Provides education and review competency for: body systems (neurological, pulmonary, genitourinary, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, endocrine, integumentary, etc.); and adult, behavioral health, and maternal child health nursing, chronic disease management, and other topics relevant to Community Care's programs and services. Facilitates the field preceptor(s) program and all nursing educational activities for Community Care. Conducts skills training and supervisory field visits. Educates staff to set priorities and develop plans for care and services based on short- and long-term goals. Supports staff in teaching patients the information and skills necessary to support their quality of care. Facilitates nursing in-service, simulation exercises, and education programs utilizing skills lab. Assists with the BLS Simulation Station. Engages in efficient advisement, coaching and mentoring strategies to help learners meet professional goals. Prepares and executes remediation planscorrective action plans as necessary to address staff education deficiencies. Ensures all learning objectives are met; if learning objectives are unmet, completes and submits remediation plan to DoNs, ADNs, and AsDNs.Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Participates in bi-weekly case conferences with DoNs, ADNs, and AsDNs to discuss progress of orientees. Creates learning workshops for incumbent staff who needs refresher trainings Demonstrates strong understanding of OASIS documentation. Provides inter-rater reliability assessments when needed to ensure accuracy in OASIS data collection. Tracks, collects, and maintains report of preceptor program analytics to support program planning, monitoring, and evaluation. Continuously analyzes work processes and identifies and addresses opportunities for improvement. Other Maintains active participation on Shared Governance Councils and the System Preceptor Program. Conducts evidence-based practice research as needed and presents results to internal and external audiences as appropriate. Represents Community Care at relevant System and industry events, as appropriate. Remains aware of current issuestrends in healthcare and translates them to educational activities as appropriate. Participates in annual planning, budget development, and report preparation. Maintains absolute privacy, confidentiality and security of all information pertaining to employees and patients. Adheres to health system and Community Care policies and procedures, HIPAAInformation Privacy, Security and Confidentiality Program, Compliance Program, Code of Conduct and Ethics, and Conflict of Interest. Upholds the standards of 'best in class' customer service through consistent demonstration of health system's ICARE values and delivery of high-quality customer service. Maintains positive and productive relationships with patients, caregivers, staff, and internal and external stakeholders. Performs other duties as assigned.
