Americares opened its first clinic in 1994 to expand access to care for the working poor. Over the years, our program has grown to become the largest free clinic network in the state with four locations serving 2,000 patients annually. Today, our clinics in Bridgeport, Danbury, Norwalk and Stamford are the primary source of free medical care for the uninsured in Fairfield County. About the position: The Assistant Director will support the Clinic Director and all staff in providing quality health care and case management. The AD will be primarily responsible for clinic sessions and working with medical staff and volunteers and will function as Clinic director in their absence. The AD will oversee special projects and unique responsibilities, as assigned.Key OutcomesIn the first 90 days...Develop understanding of the free clinic model and the patients we treatComplete Learning Modules for AthenaLearn the flow of the clinic - job roles and responsibilitiesWork with clinic director to understand how you can facilitate their roleLearn the providers patient treatment style and how to schedule patients for each providerUnderstand the role of interpretation and demonstrate skill.Be familiar with available resources, medications, and specialty care. Be able to cover clinic director for one day absenceIn the first 6 months...Master Athena EHRBe able to function as clinic director in director's absence for weeklong period.Have the ability to be flexible in a fast-paced clinical environment Become familiar with clinic policies and procedures to ensure consistent patient care and reduce the first plete understanding of clinic policies and procedures. Ability to function independently as the clinic director in the clinic director's absenceDuties and Responsibilities:Demonstrate professionalism and skill in working with staff and patientsFollow up and continuity of patient care.Oversee the efficient and effective functioning of Clinic sessions.Process data collection formsSupervise, orient, train and evaluate the competency of clinic staff and volunteers.Enforce policy and proceduresEnsure that assessment of patient eligibility and medical care is up to standards.Work with providers to furnish comprehensive medical services, including medications and referralsResponsible for special assignments and projects as designated by clinic director.Acknowledge that AFC maintains a policy and procedure manual at all locations and agree to follow the policies and procedures set forth within the manual. Performs other duties as may be requested by AmericaresKey Requirements and Competencies:Connecticut licensed registered nurse with minimum five years of experience in the adult health care field Bilingual EnglishSpanish a requirement. Strong clinical and management skills, ability to lead by example and make tough administrative decision. Proven ability to work compassionately in a fast-paced medical environment with a vulnerable patient population. Demonstrated technical skills in the use of electronic health records and telehealth platforms. Manage a volunteer staff that changes from session to session. Strong organizational skills; attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal skills and strong communications skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work independently and as a part of a team Team orientation; balanced focus on personal accountability and team goals High energy; even keeled temperament.US work authorization is required for this role.
