We invest in our people for the long term and are committed to supporting their development at every stage of their career.Position OverviewThe Tax Associate Director will be responsible for managing various U.S. federal and state income tax matters related to tax compliance and reporting for the Apollo Equity Platform. The Equity Platform spans across Private Equity, Infrastructure, Hybrid Value, Secondaries, Real Estate, and Sustainable & Impact Investing strategies.The role will primarily work with the broader Equity Tax Finance team but will also collaborate with key stakeholders across the business, including Tax Counsel, Finance Controllers, Clients & Product Solutions, and Deal Teams, to support tax compliance and reporting initiatives across Apollo's Equity investments.The role provides exposure to a broad range of tax matters related to equity, debt, and hybrid investments, as well as their associated transactions, along with opportunities to support strategic tax planning, investor tax reporting, and fund structuring. Candidates with experience in Infrastructure funds will be highly regarded.Primary ResponsibilitiesSupport and partner with Fund Leads & the Head of Equity Tax Finance to provide tax compliance and reporting strategy across the Equity Platform.Act as a direct point of contact for service providers, ensuring timely delivery and review of tax workpapers, tax returns, K-1s, and supporting schedules. Validate tax positions, assumptions, and analyses to ensure accuracy and alignment with fund requirements.Oversee the tax compliance process and tax calendar for assigned products, ensuring timely investor reporting, regulatory filings, estimated tax payments, and coordination with portfolio companies for fund-level reporting.Assist with tax research, planning, and transaction analysis for acquisitions, dispositions, and reorganizations across all applicable investments.Provide tax-specific inputs on investments and entities to business stakeholders, supporting strategic transaction decisions, fund structuring, and investment modeling.Manage and review quarterly tax estimates for upper-tier and public company reporting, ensuring tax assumptions, transaction activity, and allocation methodologies align with fund economics.Review partnership agreements, waterfall calculations, and allocation methodologies to assess tax implications and ensure consistency with fund requirements.Analyze and review book-to-tax M-1 adjustments and tax allocations to ensure compliance with tax regulations and fund agreements.Review and assist in the resolution of federal, state, and local tax notices, coordinating with internal teams and external advisors as needed.Ensure compliance with investor side letters, monitoring tax-related provisions and collaborating with internal teams to address reporting and structuring considerations.Enhance tax reporting and compliance processes by identifying and implementing technology-driven solutions to improve automation, data management, and workflow efficiency.Draft internal memos documenting tax positions for regulatory, compliance, and internal reference purposes.Assist with fundraising initiatives for upcoming product launches, including responding to DDQs, preparing tax models, and addressing prospective investor queries and sensitivities to enhance their tax experience.Coordinate and oversee foreign tax filings and payments, ensuring compliance with jurisdictional requirements.Manage estimated and final tax payments, liaising with the finance team for approvals and execution.Partner with tax operations teams to manage tax matters throughout the investment lifecycle, including entity setup and U.S.non-U.S. withholding tax compliance.Closely manage relationships with external tax service providers, ensuring quality control, cost efficiency, and adherence to deadlines.Train, supervise, and manage junior associatesanalysts, including developing and effectively leveraging the extended tax team in Mumbai, India.Qualifications & Experience5 to 8 years of experience in a public accounting firm (Big 4 preferred) andor relevant private industry experience with an alternative asset manager.Experience with the infrastructure asset classstrategy is beneficial.CPA andor MS in Taxation preferred.Experience with both closed-ended drawdown funds and open-ended funds is preferable.Partnership and corporate tax return preparation experience required, with a focus on tax reporting and compliance for an alternative asset manager with a tiered partnership structure.Experience with tax technology solutions (e.g., partnership tiering technology used by larger accounting firms) preferred.Strong drive and initiative, with the ability to take ownership of projects and drive them to completion.Ability to liaise with stakeholders, colleagues, and service providers across the broader organization and externally.Ability to quickly convert technical research and interpretation into practical solutions.Energetic, forward-thinking, and creative, with high ethical standards.Superior verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex tax concepts clearly and concisely.Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.Nimble and flexible, with the ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.OUR PURPOSE AND CORE VALUESOur clients rely on our investment acumen to help secure their future.
