The Associate Director of Practice Management, RE & PCS will work collaboratively to further the Firm's strategic objectives of training, developing and retaining highly accomplished and dedicated attorneys. Specifically, the Associate Director of Practice Management, RE & PCS will work directly with the Real Estate Department ("RE") Co-Chairs and the Private Client Services Department ("PCS") Chair to lead the day-to-day administration and management of the RE Department and PCS Department across all offices with respect to talent development and management, budgeting, internal communications and integration of resources.ResponsibilitiesDepartment Day-to-Day Management Work closely with RE and PCS department leadership on all aspects of managing departments, including weekly status meetings Support departments with resource allocation and productivity management Liaise with Practice Management, Financial Planning & Analytics, HR and Business Development on departmental matters Organize and administer partner and departmental meetings Plan all department events and team-building activities Manage the budgets of the departments, including approval of expenses Monitor, analyze and report on attorney and paralegal productivity and performance Handle day-to-day employee relations and morale issues for departments Stay apprised of developments in other practice groups, departments and across the Firm Manage other projects as needed, including arranging secondments, leaves of absences and alternative work schedules in conjunction with HR, Finance and other necessary parties Oversee compliance with the Firm's time entry policies Legal Training, Skills Development and Mentoring Coach attorneys on career advancement and skills development strategies Implement training programs and facilitate training initiatives Identify and engage coaches to further attorney professional development Coordinate mentoring and morale activities and eventsEvaluations and Promotions Process Manage evaluation process for attorneys and take part in formulation and delivery of reviews, including senior attorney reviews Participate in determination of recommendations for promotion to senior counsel and partner, and manage the promotions process for the departments, including preparation of promotion presentations and nominating memos Assist with salary and bonus recommendations for non-partner attorneys, and participate in decision-making regarding the sameRecruitingHuman Resources Collaborate with department leadership and the Recruiting team to plan for future workforce needs Serve on Firm Summer Associate and Hiring Committees and determine new department hires from summer program Assist with hiring processes, including identification of lateral associate needs, interviewing of lateral candidates and preparation of needs memos and offer letters Coordinate orientation of new associates and laterals Act as an advisor in addressing personnel issues and conflicts Participate in employee terminations in conjunction with HR and other necessary parties Assist with departing attorney processes, including matter transitioning and matter mobilityStrategic Planning Work closely with department leadership to implement strategic plans Collaborate with Innovation & Knowledge Management, Business Development and FP&A teams on strategic initiativesOther Responsibilities: Support Firm DEI and Women's initiatives Work with attorneys to achieve the Firm's pro bono goals and commitments Provide general assistance on ad-hoc projects, as neededQualifications The ideal candidate will have been a RE or PCS lawyer with experience in professional development at a large law firm for at least 6+ years Juris Doctor Degree General understanding of transactional practices, and an interest in, or experience with, practice management Robust leadership and management skills Extremely well organized and excellent follow through Enthusiasm for the development of our professionals Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills Entrepreneurial and self-motivated Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize competing demands on time and attention Flexibility to work outside regular business hours as neededThis position will require physical presence in Proskauer's offices on a regular basis (at least 3x per week, or more, if it becomes the policy of the Firm or as business needs require). The anticipated base compensation for this position is $215,000 - $240,000 per year.
