Ohio Wesleyan University, a selective, private, undergraduate liberal arts, residential institution founded in 1842 and located just 20 miles north of Columbus, is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Director, International & Off-Campus Programs (IOCP). This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits.About you:The Assistant Director, IOCP, plays a vital role in supporting global education at Ohio Wesleyan. Providing support primarily to our international students, the person in this position takes the lead for intercultural programming and advising and for student immigration education and institutional compliance as an SEVP Designated School Official. Additionally, the Assistant Director supports other IOCP global programming. You will be a bachelor degree holder in a relevant field, with experience working effectively and inclusively with diverse constituencies and international communities, especially in higher education. You will be eligible to be a DHS SEVP Designated School Official. Preferably you will have experience as a DSO and with Terra Dotta's StudioAbroad software.About us:Ohio Wesleyan University has a long history of international educational exchange going back to the 19th Century. International & Off-Campus Programs plays a vital and central role in the OWU Connection, OWU's signature program, by providing high impact global educational experiences for all students. Reporting to the Provost, the IOCP Office regularly collaborates with offices across campus.Job Summary:This position supports international education and internationalization at Ohio Wesleyan with a primary focus on international student services and advising through programming, workshops, one-on-one counseling and the preparation of educational materials and communications. The incumbent acts as a front-line DHS SEVP Designated School Official and ensures institutional compliance with Federal regulations. Additionally, the incumbent supports international exchange and students who study off-campus.Responsibilities and duties:Create and manage educational programming to promote international student compliance with immigration and tax regulations and to promote student development and adjustment to American culture.Provide cultural and immigration advising and support.Serve as Designated School Official for SEVIS, perform SEVIS data reporting tasks.Plan, organize and lead New International Student Orientation (NISO) and ongoing orientation activities during the first semester.Support an inclusive and diverse campus culture and intercultural understanding. Advocate for international students within the University and the local community.Serve advisor and advocate for student clubs, especially Horizons International.Advise students about international and off-campus educational opportunities.Assist with programs for students who engage in international and off campus experiences.Assist with the international and off-campus risk management and critical incident response.Assist with program assessment and institutional reporting.Factors contributing success:Bachelor's Degree.Eligibility to serve as a SEVIS DSO - be a U.S. citizen or Legal Permanent Resident as required by law.Experience as a DSO preferred.Experience working effectively in a highly diverse setting; experience with international communities and with cross-cultural communication.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, to solve problems creatively, to pivot quickly when required while maintaining a high degree of professionalism.Excellent communication skills.Experience with Terra Dotta Inc.'s StudioAbroad preferred.Experience with Glacier Tax, Sprintax or other NRA software pleted application packets will include:Cover Letter with salary requirementsResume or Curriculum VitaeApplication review will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
