Click HERE and then select the desired agency to view the pay range for that employer.TYPE:Full timeJOB SUMMARY:The Nursing Program Coordinator is responsible for serving as the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) liaison and super user for the Jefferson County Department of Health. Duties related to managing and overseeing the EMR system include troubleshooting problems, setting up EMR access for employees, and reviewingauditing medical records in the system to ensure compliance. Employees in this job class also develop, implement and evaluate nursing protocols for pediatric and adult primary care and family planning programs. Nursing Program Coordinators perform a variety of supervisory duties as well, including: providing orientation for new employees, training existing employees involved in patient care activities, assigning work to subordinates, and reviewing work for compliance with policies and procedures.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:The following are job-related qualifications that are required for employment consideration for this position: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of AlabamaExperience providing training to clinic or healthcare staff (e.g., policies and procedures, new equipment, new clinical employees, lab work procedures, Electronic Medical Records, standards of care, infection control, etc.).Experience developing reviewing, revising, or updating clinical or healthcare policies, procedures, protocols, or processes (e.g., improving patient care, improving clinical operations, ensuring compliance, ensuring infections control, etc.).COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:Application for this position will be considered for the following Merit System employing agencies:Health Department $60,320 - $93,579JOB DUTIES:Typical job duties include, but are not necessarily limited to:Plans, develops, and implements protocols for assigned health care programs by reviewing current clinical standards, researching and reviewing various nursing, health care, and clinical practices, and attending training classes on leading healthcare practices and technology in order to improve the quality of health care within the department's health care clinics.Develops training materials, programs, andor courses for clinical and support staff by assessing clinical workflow and current practices, in order to improve the patient quality of care in health care clinics.Assesses clinical and support staff job performance by reviewing current staff performance, medical charts, and clinic reports for completeness, accuracy, and compliance regarding relevant nursing and clinical state board requirements in order to ensure staff correctly understands and implements new protocols and the clinic is meeting its short term and long term healthcare goals.Conducts quality assurance by reviewing and auditing medical charts to determine compliance.Provides technical support related to electronic databases that support clinical care (e.g. electronic medical record, IMMPrint) including troubleshooting problems, communicating with agency staff or vendor, setting up new accounts, testing new processes or flow, and training staff on using the electronic database.Serve as liaison with electronic medical record (EMR) vendors by reporting EMR issues to vendors and conducting follow-up resolution to ensure identified issues and problems are resolved.Supervises staff by assigning and distributing work, directing staff in their job duties, monitoring progress of work, and providing performance feedback and training to staff.WORK ENVIRONMENT:Work is performed primarily within medical or healthcare facilities. Work involves use of medical tools and equipment necessary for the care andor diagnosis of healthcare patients. May be exposed to a variety of adverse working conditions, including: exposure to bodily fluids and other bio-hazard materials (e.g., urine, sweat, saliva, blood, etc.), and exposure to contagious or infectious diseases. Job requires continuous education to maintain certificationlicensure.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Job involves physical exertion required for sustained periods of light physical activity such as walking or standing.
