You can be a part of that cause by joining our team!We are currently seeking Lead Counselors for our outdoor summer camp program located in Cranford!This outdoor-based camp program experience is located at the Centennial Pool and Cranford YMCA. Campers will participate in recreational swim, as well as outdoor games, arts and crafts and other activities.The Lead Counselor serves as a seasonal employee of the Westfield Area Y summer camp staff team. A Lead Counselor plays an integral role in the execution of the daily and weekly schedule of activities for children between the ages of 3-15.Primary Responsibilities:Supervise and engage with groups of children in a fun but professional mannerPlan, organize and lead daily camp activitiesCreate a positive experience for all campersMaintain a safe environmentMaintain the appropriate staff to camper ratioSafety of all campers at all timesResponsible for the maintenance of equipmentsupplies, cleanliness of camp siteRequirements Must be at least 16 years of ageMust be energetic, fun and enjoy working with kidsMust be okay working outdoorsMust be prepared to enter the pool and superviseassist campers while in the pool, as neededMust represent the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, responsibility and respectExperience working with children is preferredAs a summer camp counselor, you must be able to work the FULL duration of time for the camp that you are hired to work. No vacations are granted during summer employment, including pre-camp trainings. Based on your availability, you may be hired as a sub and scheduled when needed. Due to state requirements, there will be mandatory staff trainings in early June which all staff are required to attend.
