Description Position PurposeCollaborate with the Director of Career Services in securing partnerships within different industries and organizations both locally and nationwide, particularly ones interested in aerospace, engineering and computer science graduates. Serves as a career advisor for students with a major focus on internships and employment. Develops and administers "outreach" programs to inform both faculty and students of the need for internship planning and its impact on career management.Major ResponsibilitiesDutiesFunctionsTasks Career Counseling Provide counseling and advising students regarding their career development. Helps students develop and refine resume writing, LinkedIn profile, interviewing, and job-search skills. Facilitates student learning by counseling and advising students on how to apply and interview for internships to enhance their overall academic experience. Provide assistance to international students with support of the CPTOPT process as it pertains to job search. Aid students with accommodations. Follow the process as it pertains to individual student job search and the ADA. Guide students in the effective use of social media in networking and job searching. Participates in the design and delivery of career-related workshops, programs, and panels.Employer Relations Identifies and secures partnerships with different aerospace, aviation and industries and organizations both locally and nationally. Assist the director in developing and maintaining employer relationships, especially regarding internship opportunities. Support efforts to enhance employer engagement from a wide range of areas appropriate to the fields offered at Vaughn College. Develop strong business and industry connections.? Assists in the planning, execution, and promotion of virtual and in-person Employer Engagement Days. Plan, promote and facilitate Employer site visitsAdministrative Assist the Director in developing an overall strategic plan for the growth of the office and the services provided. Track and maintain accurate records for reporting purposes on student utilization and the areas of need present in the student population. Document a monthly report the time and efforts. Market Career Services programs and resources to students, alumni, employers, and staff, and support the development of the Career Services recruitment plan. Serve as a member of the Career Services team assisting with large-scale, campus-wide programs such as Career Fair, New Student Orientation, Open House, and Commencement. Position may require the person to participate in nighttime and weekend programsevents occasionally.? Previous professional experience in career counseling, job placement, human resources, or related field is required.Professional Skills Candidates must demonstrate abilities such as counseling; building rapport with students, faculty, and employers; strong verbal and written communication skills; good analytical and problem-solving ability, and computer skills.Reasoning Ability The person in this position must be able to identify and define a challenge(s), research and collect data relevant to the challenge(s) and develop and execute a strategy to overcome the challenge(s). Additionally, they will need to develop a method to assess and document progress and take corrective action if necessary.This individual will need to be able to take and follow directions as well as accept and benefit from constructive feedback.Work environment and Physical functions This position is in an office environment. Generally, an employee needs to be able to sit, stand, and navigate within the office area. The office equipment, either individually used or shared with a department, is the responsibility of all employees.Preferred: Candidates with internship-related experience andor higher education career services experience is pensation:The entry level compensation for this position is expected to be between $60,000 - $65,000 per year.
