Job DetailsJob LocationBronx, NYPosition TypeFull TimeSalary Range$65,000.00 - $70,000.00 SalaryyearDescriptionPOSITION: Medical Supervisor - Unaccompanied Minors ProgramREPORTS TO: Assistant Director of Support Services CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time STATUS: Non-Exempt (Salaried)GENERAL DESCRIPTION: LSSNY's Safe Haven Shelter and Transitional Foster Care Program is a 24-hour program that serves unaccompanied children (UCs) in immigration custody who are awaiting release to their sponsors. The Medical Supervisor is responsible for the oversight, coordination, and provision of medical and mental health care of the children in the program including initial medical examinations, screening for infectious diseases, dental screening when applicable, and immunizations. In addition, the medical supervisor will be responsible for supervising the members of the medical team and ensuring compliance of medical documentation. The Medical Supervisor is classified as an essential worker, and as such accepts responsibility for being on site to complete critical services to clients, even during times of emergency. These include, but are not limited to, emergencies caused by weather, nationwide pandemics, civil unrest, and domestic threats.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Supervises and supports the professional development of the Nurses and Medical Coordinators via individual supervision, team meetings, and in-house training.Reviews Medical Team spreadsheets for accuracy and reports daily to ensure an appropriate quality of work. Liaises on behalf of Safe Haven with Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) and medical provider offices. Supports the Medical Team with job-related tasks and provides coverage when the team is short staffed. Monitors the Nurses' and Medical Coordinators' fulfillment of routine and additional assignments. Maintains health care records for UC, ensuring confidentiality. Ensures compliance with local, state, and Federal rules and regulations, including but not limited to pletes Payroll Change Notices for Nurses and Medical Coordinators; approves timecards and changes in schedule, and monitors staff attendance, ensuring sufficient medical staffing to the extent possible. Hire Nurses and Medical Coordinators. Works in collaboration with other departments, including but not limited to the Case Management Team, Clinical Team, Foster Parent Team, Child Care Worker Team and Quality Assurance Team, to ensure the coordination of care and program functioning. Ensures appropriate corrective action is taken for staff performance issues, as needed. Other duties as required by direct supervisor or needs of the programagency. SUPERVISES: Nurses and Medical Coordinators. May supervise interns and volunteers. QualificationsEDUCATION:Bachelor's degree (preferred) or Associate's degree plus one year of employment experienceEXPERIENCE:Experience in pediatric medical setting (preferred).Experience in Medical Case ManagementMinimum of one year or more of supervisory experience (preferred) SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Strong communication and writing skillsAbility to work collaboratively with consumers and co-workersKnowledgeable in working with immigrants or youth and children at-riskSuperior organizational skills and experience working with Microsoft Office Applications Ability to work independently in a fast-paced changing environment with challenges requiring creative and innovative thinkingproblem solving skillsDemonstrates ability to enforce policiesAbility to work flexible hours as neededBilingual (Spanish) a plus
