ECS is seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer to work Chantilly, VA. ECS is looking to hire an Associate Mechanical Engineer who can apply a working knowledge of engineering fundamentals to the group's engineering and design activities under the guidance of a Sr. Mechanical Engineer and project staff. The position involves conceptualization of electromechanical assemblies to meet defined performance requirements, detailed design, creation of engineering technical data packages, production support and configuration control of complex electronic and mechanical systems. The primary end products include imaging radars and range safety systems. Duties and Responsibilities:Create, maintain, and update designs for electronic and mechanical systems, sub-assemblies, and components with a focus on reliability, manufacturability, maintainability, service life, and serviceabilityParticipate in developing and maintaining engineering standards for mechanical engineering group and company products overall. Provide mechanical engineering expertise across all company productsProduce complete 3D models and detailed 2D drawings in compliance with ECS Federal and ASME standards, including appropriate use of file management software and related design practicesResearch and recommend commercial components as necessary that when included will fulfill the design intent, performance and cost objectivesUtilize ECS' Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system to define parts, assemblies, and their interrelationships for purposes of manufacturingSupport manufacturing floor activities by gathering feedback from production staff regarding design deficiencies and to implement improvements to enhance product manufacturability and qualityCommunication:Regularly works with the Senior ME and other engineers, production personnel, and other company stakeholders to solicit input or provide feedback on status, related to mechanical engineering effortsCollaborate with engineering service providers, part suppliers, or subcontractors as required, to assure that sub-contracted designs and procured mechanical parts meet ECS Federal and contract requirementsParticipate in design reviews and ad-hoc design meetings to ensure that designs conform to functional specifications, customer requirements, ECS standards, and best engineering practicesAssociate Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Computer Aided Design (CAD)0 - 2 years professional experienceDemonstrated ability to generate and interpret 2D engineering drawings of manufactured goods and apply knowledge of manufacturing processesExperience creating and maintaining Bill of MaterialsExperience with standard Microsoft Office suite products (Word, Excel, PPT)Strong analytical and quantitative skills and a demonstrated capability for analysis and strategic thinking to identify solutionsStrong initiative-the willingness and ability to succeed in a collaborative, team-based environmentAbility to multi-task with multiple projects in order to meet strict deadlines.Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way, both verbally and in writingPermanent US Residency Citizenship Status Required per contractA US DoD security clearance is not required but may be requested later on once hired. The candidate must be willing to submit for a DoD SECRET Clearance if requested.
