WATG is hiring a Senior Project Architect for our office in New York.ROLEROLELicensed architect experienced in mid-to-large scale, complex projects, with the responsibility to deliver successful design outcomes on budget and within schedule. The Senior Project Architect balances technical requirements with the design vision and intent, taking ownership of the comprehensive study and documentation of the project during its development and execution. The position is responsible for communication, heightened design capability, and exact document execution. The Senior Project Architect drives collaboration and coordinates with a diverse internal and external project team, including client representatives, consultants, and contractors, maximizing the use of available resources. RESPONSIBILITIESPlans and develops projects of medium to large scope and interprets, organizes, executes, and coordinates team assignmentsDefines the scope, selection, and development of novel concepts and methodsIncorporates the overall design intent established by the Project Designer into detailed technical documentation according to standards, understands the design intent, and enhances the consistency and design quality as technical issues need to be resolvedMonitors the design process from the conceptual phase through construction administration, ensuring the design idea is consistent and properly executedReports on the progress of assigned tasks during the schematic design, design development, and construction document phases; manages project team and reviews labor hours spent against budgeted labor estimates; monitors reports, plans, estimates, and calculations for accuracy and completenessCommunicates scope, schedule, costs, and budget requirements for each taskEnsures that construction detail documentation and drawings conform to quality assurance, quality control, and best practice standardsCoordinates the preparation of technical drawings and specificationsRegularly communicates with client representatives to verify design requirements and specifications, progress reviews, and delivery of final presentationDocuments and writes reports to consultants and vendors to issue changes and track resolutionsAttends on-site visits, participates in field reviews and project meetings, and coordinates the review of contractors' schedules, and submission of shop drawingsPrepares meeting minutesDirects and reviews the work of the team, providing mentoring and development opportunitiesFosters a green workplace through sustainable work practices and incorporates sustainable design solutions into projectsMay participate in business development opportunitiesQUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in ArchitectureProfessional license requiredEnvironmental accreditation preferred15+ years of experience managing small to mid-size architectural projects, including urban and resort hotels, mixed-use and renovation projectsProficiency in technical skills, including AutoCAD and 3D modeling software, such as Rhino and SketchUpStrong proficiency in RevitSketching skills requiredAdvanced knowledge of architectural building systems, integrated design, trends, construction methodology, QAQC process, CA process, building codesExperienced in client management and negotiationsEffective project management skills, keeping within established deadlines and budgetsWorks successfully in a team environment and has experience supervising teamsManages multiple priorities of competing demandExcellent written and verbal communication and presentation skillsTravel may be required*Please include a copy of your resume and portfolio to be considered for this position.WATG is an Equal Opportunity Employer#LI-SW1
