Position: Child Welfare Specialist Location: Chicago, IL Responsibilities: Provide case management services to children in placement, families, and foster parents, including placement, visitation, and service coordination according to the Client Service Plan. Conduct face-to-face visits with foster caretakers to monitor home environments and provide supportive services. Collaborate with families and supervisors to develop and present Client Service Plans at Administrative Case Reviews. Attend court hearings and report on case status and progress. Maintain contact with educational, medical, and service providers, integrating information to inform case recommendations. Perform diligent searches for missing parents and engage them when located. Document all case activities and submit timely reports for juvenile court and administrative reviews. Utilize trauma-informed practices to support healing and recovery while respecting confidentiality. Engage caregivers and family members, sharing strengths and challenges faced by young people. Provide support to foster parents and comply with all relevant laws and regulations. Participate in regular supervision and ongoing training related to trauma-informed care. Work effectively in a culturally diverse environment and contribute to continuous quality improvement efforts. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in human services (preferably social work). Child Welfare Employee Licensure at hire or completion of Foundations Training Program and passing the Licensure Exam (including CERAP). Must meet Foster Care Licensing standards (Rule 402) within three months of employment. Knowledge of childhood trauma and experience with youth and families affected by trauma preferred. Understanding youth development and positive youth development approaches preferred. Valid Illinois Driver's License, access to a personal vehicle, and proof of insurance. No history of child abuse or neglect.
