Basic Purpose and Function:This position may be responsible for leading, training and developing, a crew of up to (60) skilled trade personnel in ship repair and maintenance of US Navy, USCG, and commercial ships. They will be responsible for attaining Safety, Quality, Schedule, and Cost performance objectives that ensure positive predictable results. At times they will work with the Project Manager and/or Project Coordinator as well as the other trades to deconflict work and maintain schedule. They will support/attend project meetings as required. B. Skills & Qualifications:Carries out all supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Companys policies, procedures, and all applicable laws or regulations. Responsibilities to include - Training employees. Planning, assigning, and directing the workforce. Assist craft manager appraising performance, skill. Rewarding and disciplining employees when appropriate. Correcting unacceptable behaviors. Addressing complaints and resolving problems in accordance with company policy.Demonstrates leadership skills that align with the mission, vision, and values of the Company. Will be responsible to grow continuity and develop our ship repair organization. Manage various facets of the shipyard Steel department including but not limited to installing ships foundations, regulating, and erecting modular assemblies, vessel conversions, paint abatements & Firewatch per OSHA/ FMR rules and policies. C. Applicant must be able to:Essential to this position is the ability to lead, direct, coach, and discipline employees in alignment with Company processes, policies, and procedures. A working knowledge of Continuous Process Improvement Experience with computer systems such as Time and Attendance systems. i.e., TCP. Must have strong Microsoft Office Suites computer skills. Must have the ability to maintain a professional demeanor in stressful situations. Must have ability to maintain confidentiality. Must have a proficient knowledge of the hot work and confined space entry procedures. Must have a working knowledge of the NAVSEA Standard Items and Mayport Naval Station Local Standard Items. Must have a working knowledge of Mil-Std 1689, 248. Must have a working knowledge of various regulatory body rules. (ABS, USCG, DNV, BV). Must have a working knowledge of the Lock Out Tag Out shipboard process, Tag-out User Manual (TUM) and Work Authorization Forms (WAF) process. Must be able to read and understand prints or drawings. Must be able to process and estimate CFRs or COs Well versed with the company Hotwork policy.D. Major Responsibility (Functions/Duties): include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Craft Lead will oversee the safety of his or her employees. -Craft Lead will maintain a clean and organized worksite. -Executes the company Hotwork policy. Manages Safe, Quality, Production in his/her employees daily operations. Executes organizational policies and goals. Responsible for budget and schedule adherence. Assists in production control projects. Maintains and executes work package in accordance with production control plan. Assist Craft Manger in planning overtime and resource assignments. Must abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures.PERFORMANCE LEADERS Performance Leaders will inspire enthusiasm and act as a role model. She/he will develop talented employees with the skills, abilities, competencies, and values needed to achieve the Company goals. The Performance Leader will provide timely feedback to employees in a constructive, coaching style, give praise and recognition and deal with performance issues. Requirements:Education and Experience: Qualified candidates must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least five (5) years of trade experience in a ship repair environment and three (3) years of management experience. This requirement can also be met with a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least eight (8) years of progressive trade experience in a manufacturing environment and one (1) year of management experience. Preference is given to those with experience in a ship repair or shipbuilding environment. An Associates Degree or Bachelors degree is a plus.? Experience with systems such as EVMS software is a plus
