What Does a Yard Associate Do?Assist with moving product throughout the yardPull materials from racks, units, or other storage areas to prepare for pick-up or shipmentBuild loads and load trucks for outbound deliveryBand/organize material to ensure safe forklift handling and delivery/arrivalRemove lumber from units and place boards in rack, according to grade and lengthsSafety load lumber and building materials into appropriate bins or storage locationsAssist with inventory controlRemove defective and damaged lumber from racksAssist customers with loading of lumber and building materialsMaintain good working relationships with customers, vendors, fellow associates, and managementMaintain the appearance of the yard and racksPlays a critical customer service role by providing customers with fast, friendly, accurate and safe serviceProvides first level escalation for customer issues and answers questions to ensure a positive customer experienceModels customer service best practices - customer engagement and attention to detail is critical to this roleMaintain the appearance of the stock areas, and helps keep the store cleanComplies with all company policies and procedures; maintains respectful relationships with coworkersAdditional duties and other tasks as assignedWhat Does It Take to Be Successful as a Yard Associate?High school diploma Forklift Certification at Caron Building & Rental CenterAbility to lift up to 50-75lbs consistently and bend, twist, squat and reach throughout work shiftResults-oriented with ability to serve stores with humility and be a steward of Nations Bests values.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while remaining adaptable and flexibleStrong interpersonal skills with willingness to consistently provide superior customer service skills
