Job DescriptionJob DescriptionThe successful candidate will have excellent organizational skills, be self-directed, and be confident in their decision-making abilities.Functions and Responsibilities:Achieving Maintenance goals with the highest regard for employee safetyCapable of supporting troubleshooting & observations of machine centers with shift supervisors and other maintenance staff to ensure production and quality standards are metManaging the department cost in an aggressive manner assuring optimum manufacturing unit cost; develop and educate key metrics.Maintenance Planning, planning non-emergency maintenance, coordinating PM routesEffectively communicating goals and/or instructionsManaging conflictsSupervising Maintenance and Cleanup personnel on varying schedulesManaging contractor safety through active leadership.Maintenance of sawmill equipment (this includes but is not limited to De-Barkers, Gang Edgers, Trimmer, Sorter, Stacker, Conveyors, Chippers, Blowers, Hydraulic Systems, Pneumatic Systems)Safety of the crew (Lock-Out Procedures, assisting with and verifying Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRA), Safety Audits)Arrange WF Training for and mentoring apprenticesCreating and planning improvement projectsManaging parts with the purchaserScheduling and attendanceWill include periodic weekend coverageInspecting completed work Measures and Performance:Safety/environmental complianceInterpersonal skillsMaintenance/departmental costQualityEmployee training and developmentProduction, grade recovery, and downtimeMaintenance & appearance of production/plant equipment Knowledge and Skills Required:Prior Journeyman Electrician or MillwrightProficient in Microsoft OfficeWell organizedMinimum of five years (plus) of industrial experienceLeadership and communication skillsTwo or Four-year degree preferredPrior Supervisory experience preferredOur highly competitive compensation package and outstanding benefits include:Benefits starting Day 1Competitive starting payOn-the-job training and aA culture that strongly believes in promoting from withinMedicalDental401k with company matchLife InsuranceDisability InsurancePaid vacations and holidaysApply:If you are ready to build your career in a company that thrives on growth, a safe work environment, rewarding work, challenge, and opportunity, come build your career with us at West Fraser: /careersWest Fraser is a diversified North American wood products company producing southern yellow pine lumber and wood chips across the Southern US and Western Canada.
