Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are looking for a skilled Cost Accountant to join our team in Mount Airy, North Carolina. In this role, you will collaborate closely with financial staff and operational teams to provide critical accounting and financial insights to support both corporate and plant management. This position requires a strong understanding of cost accounting principles and the ability to manage multiple financial processes effectively.Responsibilities: Provide financial support for project accounting, including verifying documentation and ensuring accurate system entries for new projects. Prepare and distribute daily shipment reports to maintain accurate financial tracking. Reconcile revenue recognition with customer project billings and monitor project-related transactions for timely and accurate recording. Perform month-end closing activities, including reviewing open projects, conducting account analyses, and preparing detailed financial reports. Conduct various plant accounting activities, such as analyzing item costs, reviewing inventory, and supporting general accounting functions. Oversee the weekly cycle count program and ensure accurate inventory tracking. Manage the month-end close process for assigned plants, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. Assist in preparing annual budgets and quarterly forecasts at the plant level, ensuring alignment with financial goals. Generate supplemental reports for management on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Proven experience with cost accounting and financial reporting in a manufacturing or plant setting. Proficiency in using accounting software systems and enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions. Strong knowledge of accounts payable, budget processes, and cost analysis. Familiarity with CapEx and related financial tracking processes. Ability to perform detailed reconciliations and analyze financial data effectively. Experience managing month-end close processes and preparing accurate financial statements. Excellent organizational and communication skills with a focus on accuracy and timeliness. A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
