Your role at BHSN: The STOP Domestic & Sexual Violence Advocate I provides comprehensive support and advocacy services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Responsibilities include managing crisis hotlines, conducting walk-in assessments and intakes, providing law enforcement and judicial support, facilitating safe housing placements, and offering transportation for survivors in need. Additionally, the advocate engages in community outreach and education initiatives to raise awareness and combat domestic and sexual violence. This position serves Clinton, Franklin, and Essex counties.Whats in it for you? Generous benefits, including personalized health coverage, paid time off, and holiday payWorking within our community, making a real impact, working alongside passionate colleaguesAccessible leadership team, coaching for your growth, and ample training opportunitiesWith BHSN University, we provide our team members with continuous learning, mentorship, and internal education opportunities to encourage our team to continue discovering and innovatingAs a rapidly growing organization, there are endless opportunities to grow within the organizationCommunity discounts, loan forgiveness & moreWhat your day might look like: Provides emergency response actions to hotline and/or walk-in service requests to assess the safety and identify needs including but not limited to: direct emergent support (including transportation, safety planning, safe housing, childcare), advocacy, intakes, and refer to immediate supports identified as domestic and/or sexually violent related barriers Collaboration among community programs and partners to strengthen professional relationships, community education and engagement, and to identify quality supports needed to combat domestic and sexual violence (Including and not limited to: law enforcement, legal system providers, attorneys, legal aid, etc) Completion of documentation as prescribed by agency standards including progress notes, assessments, and updating of various forms requiredTo complete entries into safe housing and/or emergency housing as appropriate, including the cleaning of exited rooms, room inspections, and various needs of safe dwelling locationsAdhere to programmatic requirements regarding safeguarding client confidentiality and maintaining appropriate and professional boundaries.
