Job DescriptionJob DescriptionProduction Assistant SupervisorJob Description: As an Assistant Production Supervisor, you will be involved in various functions and roles related to manufacturing white oak staves at our state-of-the-art stave mill in Batesville, Arkansas. This role supports the management of production operations to achieve standards related to volume, cost, waste, and quality. It involves overseeing daily activities in a production area to ensure these standards are met. This introductory management position serves as a development path toward becoming a department or shift supervisor, with the potential for eventually managing an entire production facility. You will work with the department or shift supervisor to help coordinate work schedules, staffing requirements, and production sequences to maximize productivity. Monitors production activity, identifies process problems, troubleshoots causes, and develops solutions. Suggest improvements to improve efficiencies or safety.Compensation: $55,000 starting base salary, not including any additional monthly bonuses available. Schedule: In this role, you will train and potentially work on both day and night shifts from time to time.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Assistant Supervisor RoleProductionResponsible for learning and understanding all manufacturing & quality processes.Manage and lead team members in your areaWork with supervisors and managers in your area to accomplish goalsAid in the hiring, training, development, and onboarding of new and existing employees within their assigned departmentsAssist with monitoring and collecting quality data to ensure manufacturing specifications are maintainedResponsible for filling in when employees miss, quit, or take vacationsInvolved in setting and evaluating production quotas, both quantity and qualityKeep all production facilities in good repair, orderly, and cleanUse the equipment to capacity to fill ordersSafetyEnsure all safety policies are enforced, all training is updated, and all equipment is guarded and well-maintained.Keep all safety training and maintenance documentedKeep open communication with all Team Members regarding safety issuesEXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelors Degree a plus or equivalent of 4 years of management experience in a production or manufacturing-related fieldAble to write and speak clearly and accuratelyComputer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel/Word, and the ability to learn and use specialized company applications Must be detail-oriented, highly accountable, and able to prioritize tasksAble to establish and maintain effective working relationshipsDemonstrate strong leadership skillsMust treat ALL EMPLOYEES in the facility with respect and courtesy.Self-motivated and Goal-orientedStrong Organizational skills and decision-making abilitiesEMPLOYEE BENEFITSIndependent Stave Company offers competitive compensation and benefits to employees at each of our facilities.
