Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:DescriptionJOB PURPOSE: A. To perform food service activities including preparation and serving food to members, meal accountability, clean-up, and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of food service facilities, and ensuring safety.B. To support and contribute to the mission, goals, and objectives of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne (BGCFW).C. To model the core values of honesty, respect, and responsibility.This is accomplished through the effective performance of this job description with or without reasonable accommodations and with special attention to the application of the Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Perform all duties according to kitchen task lists and schedules, and as assigned.Complete all initial and ongoing refresher training for food service and kitchen work.Maintain proper records, food temperatures, food delivery slips, and time logs as assigned.Prepare food in a safe and sanitary manner.Wear gloves and hairnets/hats as appropriate when preparing and handling food, and wash hands often.Serve food to kids individually as each kid goes through the line.Record meal counts of kids individually as each kid goes through the line.Help with inventory records and accountabilityUnload stock and put it away in proper areas.Wash dishes, take out trash, sweep and mop floors.Clean and sanitize kitchen areas as needed.Assist in seating kids coming into the cafeteria.Deliver food to other sites when needed.Interact with the kids and give them an enjoyable experience in the kitchen.Report any suspected abuse asap to the Kitchen Manager and Director of Program Quality & Evaluation. Participate in member supervision meetings, staff training, team meetings, monthly all-staff meetings, and other staff meetings as required.ATTENDANCE AND WORK LOCATION:Arrive at work on time and be ready to work at the start of your scheduled shift.Leave work only at the end of your scheduled shift and not before.Notify your supervisor promptly if you will be late, need to leave early, or will be absent. Work location, work hours, and break times may vary from time to time to fit BGCFW needs. When this occurs you are expected to fulfill the above attendance requirements. Record your work time correctly and accurately, and submit any adjustments to your supervisor on time for approval.DRIVING BGCFW VEHICLES:You must have a current Indiana driver's license.Follow the BGCFW Drivers Guide at all times.Ensure that all occupants in the vehicle wear seatbelts at all times and that they are secured before moving the vehicle.Ensure that the vehicle is safe to drive before moving it.You must not operate any BGCFW vehicle if under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, or any other mind-altering substances including prescription medicine.You must not text in the vehicle while it is moving or stopped at a traffic light or stop sign.OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED:You may be assigned other duties from time to time in addition to your regular job responsibilities. You will be expected to perform those duties to the best of your ability. Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with management, staff, parents/guardians, and the community.Ability to manage time productively and maintain an orderly work process.Ability to function efficiently within a team and alone.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:At least 18 years of age.High school diploma or GED.Ability to perform high school-level arithmetic calculations and reading comprehension.Legally eligible to work in the United States.A valid Indiana driver's license can drive an automobile.Reliable transportation to and from work, to program locations, and for activities such as meetings, classes, and workshops in and out of the area. Pass a criminal records background check and a 10-panel drug screen.Maintain current 1st Aid and CPR certification.Maintain emotional self-control when under personal stress.Accurately assess situations, solve problems, work effectively under stress, within deadlines, and in emergencies. Understand and carry out instructions and procedures with minimal supervision. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to adapt to inclement weather conditions and situations. Ability to move easily across a variety of indoor and outdoor surfaces; Possess the strength and agility to climb stairs, lift, and carry 25 pounds at least 20 feet.Possess the speech, vision, and hearing functions necessary for the essential job functions and to respond effectively to emergencies.Capable of performing physically and mentally in a reasonable manner essential job responsibilities, with or without reasonable accommodation.
