Shop Technician

Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescriptionIn this position, shop technicians will play part in the process of upfitting trucks. Different trucks range from DOT plows, service trucks, tool boxes, dump trucks, etc. Much of the work is custom to client requirements and requires a lot of thinking and problem solving. All of the equipment comes pre-fabricated or assembled and is strictly just getting installed onto the frame of a truck. Various responsibilities across different departments include:- Using hand and power tools to install attachments onto trucks- Reading and interpreting blueprints install wire harnesses into trucks to connect the equipment to the controll box in the cab- Interpret prints to attach equipment correctly and safely- Install lights onto trucks after plows or buckets are installed- Fabricating metal parts as needed to fit the vehicle- Install hydraulic hoses where needed for certain equipment- Using hand tools to attach final assemblies on to trucks- Tapeing and preping trucks for paint touch ups- Applying liguid paint in the paint booth to buckets, frames, or hitchesThe work schedule in the shop is 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday. Many employees will come in early around 6:30am to get more overtime. Typical work hours in a week range from 40-50 depending on how much overtime each person wants. 40 hours is the expectation, nothing more is required, but is offered.
