Today, Kittson Healthcare is a twelve-bed acute care federally designated Critical Access Hospital and fifty bed long term care facility which also includes a home healthcare agency, 8 bed assisted living facility and an ambulance service. There is a medical clinic located in the complex as well as a satellite medical clinic in Karlstad, Minnesota. They are family, neighbors, teachers, and community members.DEPARTMENT: Human ResourcesSUPERVISED BY: Director of Human ResourcesSUPERVISES: NoneSTATUS: Non-exempt JOB SUMMARY:The Human Resources Assistant provides administrative support to the Human Resources Department in a healthcare setting. This role focuses on maintaining and organizing employee records, assisting with recruitment efforts, supporting benefit administration, and data entry tasks. The HR Assistant ensures accurate filing of personnel documents, coordinates interview scheduling, assist with new hire onboarding, and serves as a point of contact for basic benefit inquiries. Additionally, this role supports employee engagement initiative and recognition programs to help foster positive work environment. The role is responsible to maintain compliance with HR policies and regulations while providing general support to the HR department. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and confidentiality are essential for success in this role. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed, related to the HR functions, based on departmental needs and directions. JOB REQUIREMENTS:KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:Proficiently be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.Understanding of basic HR principles, policies, and procedures.Knowledge of healthcare-specific HR compliance and regulations (e.g., HIPAA, FMLA, ADA)Familiarity with employee benefits, payroll processes, and recruitment practices.Proficiency in data entry and document management.Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.Customer service skills for interacting with employees and applicants.Adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.Maintain professionalism and a positive attitude in employee interactions.Learn and use HR technology and software efficiently.Support employee engagement initiatives and recognition programs.Follow HR policies and procedures while ensuring compliance.QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or equivalent required; associates or bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.Previous experience in an HR or administrative support role preferred; experience in a healthcare setting is a plus.Experience with HRIS or payroll systems is a plus.Must pass MN background check and fingerprinting.
