Position Summary The Shop Assistant must be an individual who can adapt to a fast-paced environment with an adherence to on-time delivery of parts. This person should have a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn and ask questions about the manufacturing processes. This person must be flexible and willing to work in multiple departments as demand requires. Essential Functions Grind and orbital sand welded partsLearn and perform manual deburring operationsRemove tabs, slag, rust, and sharp edges as neededLearn to use various shop tools such as orbital sanders, timesavers, angle grinder, and hand tools at an entry level Handle finished items in a delicate manner to prevent damageMaintain a neat and orderly work areaFunction in a safe and reliable manner to prevent personal injury and/or property damageWear the proper PPE for the job function being performedPerform other duties as assigned Technical CompetenciesAbility to learn to read blueprintsAbility to learn how to use shop toolsEducation & Professional ExperienceHigh School diploma or GED requiredExperience in manufacturing or prototyping is a plus Entry level position Physical Requirements/Work EnvironmentAbility to walk and stand for extended periods of timeAbility to use hands and fingers to operate computers, equipment, hand/power tools, etc., and handle and feel parts of various size Ability to bend, kneel and crouch occasionally throughout the shiftAbility to push, pull or lift 50lb moderately throughout the workday Ability to focus vision for: close vision, color vision, depth perception, and adjusting to sharp focusNoise conditions can be moderate to extreme.
