Job DescriptionJob DescriptionMissouri Delta Medical CenterSikeston, MO 63801Job DescriptionER RegistrarFunction of Position:Responsible for check-ins, pre-registration & full registration. These functions include obtaining accurate & thorough demographic information, obtaining a copy of their photo ID, insurance cards, & scanning them into the medical record at the time of registration. Other duties include, but are not limited to, responsible for adhering to compliance with CMS, government payors, commercial & third-party payors, EMTALA, Joint Commission rules & regulations, ensuring compliance, benefit verification, signatures on consent for treatment paperwork, signature on the HIPAA paperwork, issuing Medicare Important Messages & Patient Rights & Responsibilities, co-pay collection, & discussing payment options on previous balances.Responsible for working & maintaining system work queues.Answering the telephone, faxing, scanning, & various other duties assigned by the manager or supervisor.Collaborates closely with other personnel to ensure a smooth & timely flow of patients & information to maximize reimbursement.Constantly works with & maintains restricted or confidential information from sources within the Healthcare System.Complete duties accurately & in a timely manner assigned by the manager and/or supervisor.Schedule:Full-Time position12-hour shiftsShifts: Days: 7:00am - 7:00pm Mid-Shift: 11:00am - 11:00pm Nights: 7:00pm - 7:00amQUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent.EXPERIENCE: Previous admitting experience preferred but not required. PATIENT CONTACT: Must have the knowledge & skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.STANDING: May spend a moderate amount of time standing.SITTING: Considerable amount of time sitting.WALKING: May spend a moderate amount of time walking.LIFTING: Must use good body mechanics to independently lift work related items.VISUAL: Must have ability to read various handwriting techniques and visualize the work environment.HEARING: Must have the ability to receive and comprehend telephone calls and communicate with healthcare team members.SPEAKING: Talking is essential in addressing patient/family and healthcare team members needs and/or requests.
