Job DescriptionJob DescriptionJob Summary: The Front Desk position checks the front office accounting records for accuracy and, daily, summarizes and complies information for the hotels financial records. This position is also responsible for tracking room revenue, occupancy percentages and other front office operating statistics. Additionally, the Front Desk is expected to prepare a summary of cash, check, and credit card activities, reflecting the hotels financial performance for the day. This position is also responsible for posting room charges and room taxes to guests accounts including guest transactions not posted during the day by the front office cashier.Job Responsibilities:Posts room charges and taxes to guests accountsProcesses guest charges voucher and credit card vouchersPost charges to the guest accounts that have not been posted or were incurred on the night audit shiftVerifies all account postings and balancesVerifies that room rates are correct and posts those rates to guest accountsServe as a front desk agent especially in terms of check-in and check-out proceduresPrepares a summary of cash, check, and credit card activitiesSummarizes results of operations for managementCheck figures, postings, and documents for accuracy. Record, store, access, and/or analyse computerized financial informationMust have complete knowledge of emergency proceduresBalance the days charges, making corrections as necessaryRun end of day process in property management software (PMS)Understand principles of auditing, balancing, and losing out accountsRespond to guest needs, special requests and complaints and alert the appropriate manager as neededAll other duties as assignedEducation and Experience:Sufficient education and literacy needed to identify and read product labels and to communicate with guests.Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in basic English preferredPreviously hospitality experience skills preferredKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Detail-oriented and thorough.Ability to remain discreet and respect the privacy of guests.Ability to perform consistent work to the highest of standards.Ability to interact with guests in a pleasant, friendly wayKnowledge of hospitality operationsStrong eye for detailsGood problem-solving skillsAbility to multitaskBasic Accounting skillsSolid customer service skillsAbility to clearly and pleasantly communicate both verbally and in writing in English with guests, management, and co-workers, both in person and by telephoneAbility to work well under pressure, dealing with many arrivals and departures within a short period of timeAbility to work cohesively with co-workers both within and outside of your departmentAbility to compute accurate mathematical calculationsPhysical Demands:Prolonged periods standing and walking and bendingFrequent keyboardingWorking Conditions:IndoorHours range 7am-3pm and 3pm-11pmThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not an exclusive list of all duties and responsibilities.
