Job DescriptionJob DescriptionThe Carpenter Helper will assist skilled craftsperson(s) by performing supportive duties as directed and will work under immediate supervision. Must have a general knowledge of carpentry and use of hand and power tools to assist the Carpenter and/or Carpenter Foreman with various tasks. Assist Carpenter/Carpenter Foreman with designing, constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures, fixtures, and other items of wood, plywood, and wallboard. The helper will look for opportunities for improvement in all tasks, means, and methods regarding the work, and be willing to learn from others. Must learn and understand all safety hazards related to the work and learn to safely and effectively use or operate work-related tools and equipment.Responsibilities:The following are intended as general illustrations of the work in this job class and are not all-inclusive for this position.Assist Carpenter in laying out workAssist Carpenter with lifting, positioning, securing, and cutting of materials during installationClean work areas, machines, and equipmentEnsure work area remains stocked with materials neededAssist other craft workers as neededQualifications:Must be able to push/pull, lift, or carry up to 50 lbs., but may occasionally push/pull, lift, or carry up to 100 lbs.Subject to repetitive use of hands/arms, and legsHand/eye coordinationMust be able to communicate (hear, comprehend, and speak) to safely perform workWill need to be able to perform sedentary to heavy workMay operate hand and power tools of all types with proper training and authorizationClimb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders and scaffoldsRequired to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basisPosition may require prolonged bending/twisting, walking, crawling, kneeling, reaching overhead, squatting, pushing /pulling, or standing and liftingMust be able to walk on uneven surfaces, muddy conditions, loose rock, loose/soft sand, etcWill be exposed to adverse weather conditions (Heat, Cold, Rain, Etc.)Detail-oriented; must be able to remember, examine, and observe detailsPosition RequirementsPhysical requirements: To perform the essential functions of the job, General Craft Workers must be able to climb, kneel, lift up to 90 pounds, have a good sense of balance and exert force to move objects constantly.Equal Opportunity EmployerThe Lemoine Company, L.L.C. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
