Job DescriptionJob DescriptionOverviewRelief StaffPosition: Relief Staff for Direct Support- Residential Program for Adults.Location: Multiple Locations across Merrimac Valley and North ShoreMerrimack Valley: Amesbury, Merrimac, Newburyport, SalisburyNorth Shore: Beverly, Boxford, Danvers, Middleton, Peabody, Salem, TopsfieldSalary: $20-22 per hourShifts include: Morning Shifts: 9am-3pm, 3pm-11pmPart Time and Full Time Available: 8-30 hours per week Turning Point, Inc is looking for dedicated Relief Staff for Direct Support to work available hours, to join our growing team! The direct support relief staff will provide support and supervision to intellectually and developmentally disabled individuals, individuals with traumatic brain injury and individuals with high-risk behaviors and significant forensic issues residing in group residences. Direct Support Staff are responsible for maintaining the safety and Human Rights of the individuals being supported, as well as implementing Individual Service Plans (ISP) goals and strategies of Turning Point, Inc. Responsibilities:Provide daily living support for adults with intellectual & developmental disabilities adults in a casual, friendly, residential group home environmentWork FT or PT or as little as (8) hours per weekTeach, empower and encourage the individuals to be self-confident, reliant, and to make positive contributions to their communitiesProvide support for bathing, dressing, personal hygiene and individual goals (some opportunities do not require personal hygiene care)Assist with meal preparation, cleaning, laundry, and transportation to community activities, appointments and recreational outings, shopping, restaurants and other activitiesEducation/Experience RequirementsHigh school diploma (GED)or higher educationValid drivers licenseInterest and/or experience working with adults with disabilitiesAbility to follow behavioral support plans (in some programs)Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend works assignments in EnglishBasic math skills for counting and recording moneyAbility to perform moderate lifting, and frequent walkingHow Do I Know if this Job is Right for Me?Interest in growing and learning in a human service careerObtain satisfaction from helping others and making a difference in their livesPossess empathy, patience, and flexibilityKeen observation and active listening skillsAttention to detail and the ability to learn, follow and execute client plans and goalsAbility to work with others in a team environmentCritical thinking and problem solving skillsAble to arrive on time & maintain good attendance in a shift oriented work place Physical DemandsMust have the physical ability to stand frequently during the day, engage in repeated stooping or bending at the waistAbility to go up and down stairs several times during the shiftAbility to safely support, pivot, physically move or assist a person weighing up to 100+ lbs.(in some programs) during daily living activities, with or without assistanceAbility to physically ensure the safety of all individuals in the program by participating in established behavioral interventions, as requiredAbility to drive 4-6 passenger van for transportation (after training) of individuals to day programs, community activities and other engagements, as required Our MissionTurning Point, Inc. is a non-profit organization that is committed to providing exceptional services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
