Job DescriptionJob DescriptionJob Title: MachinistJob DescriptionInterprets engineering drawings, blueprints, sketches, written specifications, and schematics to lay out and perform work properly. Sets up and operates all available machines and machine tools, performing progressive machining operations on work involving very close tolerances or unusual requirements. Determines operation sequences and uses machinists hand tools skillfully. Determines the machinability of metals to select proper tooling (geometry) and application (fields, speeds). Requires experience, trade skill, and knowledge of machine shop practice. Operation of CNC machines, including a working knowledge of programming fundamentals, is required. Work produced must consistently meet specifications. Monitors coolant quality and changes coolant as required. Performs daily/weekly TPM tasks with accuracy and consistency. Requires two years of machine shop vocational school education or 10,000 hours of applied machine shop experience.
