Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:About Camp North Homes:Camp North Homes provides opportunities for all programs within our continuum to have powerful, new experiences in an outdoor setting. Participants get to explore a wide range of wilderness skills such as fire and shelter building, garden lessons while picking fresh raspberries, and fishing. We also build in a variety of other experiential activities like nature scavenger hunts, woodworking, archery, and by challenging participants to reach new heights on our high ropes course. At Camp North Homes, we are dedicated to providing a safe, fun, and enriching experience for our participants and staff. We are currently seeking a vigilant and proactive Lifeguard to join our team and ensure the safety of all swimmers in the lake area. As a Lifeguard, you will play a critical role in maintaining a secure environment, responding to emergencies, and promoting water safety.Job Summary:The Lifeguard is responsible for overseeing the safety of all swimmers in the lake area, ensuring that proper safety protocols are followed, and providing immediate assistance in case of emergencies. You will also perform first aid and lifesaving techniques, including CPR and AED usage, when necessary.Key Responsibilities:Monitor Waterfront Activities: Actively supervise the lake area to ensure that all rules and regulations are being followed, providing a safe swimming environment for all participants and staff.Respond to Emergencies: Provide first aid and lifesaving techniques, including CPR, to those in need. Use an automated external defibrillator (AED) when required and assist with emergency evacuations if necessary.Emergency Medical Response: Quickly assess emergency situations, contacting emergency medical personnel when a serious injury occurs, and providing relevant information to facilitate rapid treatment.Safety Enforcement: Enforce safety rules and policies related to waterfront activities to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of all participants.Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with other camp staff to ensure the highest level of safety during all swimming activities. Communicate effectively with participants and staff about safety guidelines and protocols.Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned by camp management to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all.Requirements:Required Skills/Abilities:Extensive knowledge of and ability to administer or use first aid, CPR, AED, and other lifesaving techniques.Excellent observational skills.Ability to enforce waterfront regulations and rules.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Education and Experience:Must be at least 16 years old.Must possess the following certifications from the Red Cross or other equivalent agency: lifeguard training, CPR, AED, and first aid.Physical Requirements:Must be a skilled swimmer and able to pull weight through the water.Must be physically able to rescue someone drowning or injured in the water.Prolonged periods of being outdoors.
