We invite you to take your first step toward a rewarding career with us!Position Summary: The Cook prepares and services meals for the dietary department in a safe and method in compliance with dietary standards, policy and procedures. All responsibilities will be appetizing conducted in a manner that is consistent with Maplewood Senior Living philosophy.Key Responsibilities:Assists or prepares food items and serves food to residents within scheduled time frameCleans and maintains food service areas, including kitchen and dining roomAssists Culinary Services Director in maintaining inventory controlSupervises servers in the absence of the Culinary Service DirectorMaintains clean, neat, and safe work environmentDemonstrates knowledge of kitchen equipment including but not limited to: ovens, slicers, mixers, steam tables, steamers, toasters, coffee pots, refrigerators, and freezersAssures that residents diets are being followedAssures employees and resident guest meals are accounted for on a daily basisReports to Culinary Service Director any loss, breakage, or waste of supplies and equipmentObserves and communicates to Culinary Service Director problems or potential problems in the dietary departmentAbility to work with little or no supervisionAbility to cook large quantities of food and deliver a superior productAbility to guide and instruct others in food preparation and food servingAbility to maintain professional demeanor under stressAbility to recognized needs and help others without promptingAbility to relate well with other employees and residents of the facilityIs neat, clean and works safelyMaintains current cleaning list and highest standards for kitchen cleanlinessRespects residents rights and adheres to community policy on resident carePerforms all other duties assigned by any member of managementEducation/Experience/Licensure/CertificationServe Safe Certification RequiredHas a working knowledge of rules and regulations related to health and safety in food preparation.Knowledge of cooking times and temperatures essential in accordance to state guidelinesKnowledge of various cuts of meat and seasoningsDemonstrates ability in a wide range of food preparation and skills Experience in dealing with seniors and their dietary needs.Ability to read, write, and speak EnglishWhy You'll Love working for Us: Competitive wages Flexible shifts Growth opportunities Bonus & incentive programs Competitive Benefits Package: including medical, dental, vision, 401K match, company paid time-off, life insurance policy, insurance deductibles and voluntary Aflac insurance for our full-time employees.
