Also offered at no cost to you: Short-Term and Long-Term Disability and Life Insurance.ABOUT THE POSITIONOrthopaedic Associates of Muskegon (OAM) + imove is seeking a Medical Equipment Fitting Specialist to join our DME team. The Medical Equipment Fitting Specialist plays a critical role by providing fitting, education, and support for patients requiring DME such as braces, and splints. This role is responsible for all aspects of DME and providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced, ever-changing, and multitasking environment. The Medical Equipment Fitting Specialist interacts closely with patients and a multidisciplinary team in a highly organized and professional manner. The Medical Equipment Fitting Specialist ensures an exceptional patient experience is achieved by displaying effective customer service, problem solving and communication skills in a friendly, thoughtful, and empathetic manner. The Medical Equipment Fitting Specialist also performs a variety of clerical functions. Applicants from diverse experiences, backgrounds, and identities are encouraged to apply.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Attend and participate in meetings with Supervisor on oversight of DME program. Attending DME product and fitting training as scheduled. Fits, adjusts, and delivers various types of DME products to patients. Explains the purpose, function, and benefits of prescribed equipment to patients and their families, addressing any concerns. Works closely with orthopaedic providers and healthcare teams to coordinate patient care. Stay current with product innovations, industry standards, and regulatory requirements related to DME. Obtains authorization, as required by insurance company, for all products, and uploading into EMR. Evaluates all pending authorizations, and provides any additional information as requested, in a timely manner. Ensure documentation complies with relevant healthcare regulations, including insurance requirements. Assist the DME coordinator with inventory, brace fitting, EMR orders, charge entry, and insurance compliance. Provides excellent customer service to patients. Becomes knowledgeable in all areas of DME billing and payment. This includes insurance updates, eligibility, retail sales, and advanced beneficiary notice. Performs other duties as assigned.Requirements:Graduate of accredited Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Certified Orthotic Fitter, or Medical Assistant program. Current licensure/certification.Must maintain CEU requirements of licensure/certification.Maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects of work following HIPAA requirements.Implement Medicare guidelines and any changes with billing and clinical staff and have a yearly review.Review Coding and compliance issues annually and develop a plan of action to correct issues if applicable.Multi-tasker with adaptability in managing changes in work and patient volume.Ability to react calmly and effectively in difficult situations and during unforeseen circumstances.Proficiency in the comprehension and application of contemporary bracing and Durable Medical Equipment (DME) productsKnowledge of compliance regulations set by state, federal and local law.Ability to follow the policies and procedures of the organization.Exhibit strong computer usage skills.Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to achieve program goals.
