Job DescriptionJob DescriptionJob Summary The Bear Valley Childrens Snow Sports School (aka Cub Club) is seeking both full-time and part-time Cub Club Assistants. Cub Club offers ski and snowboard lesson for 4-12 year olds and these positions oversee the inside operations of check-in, lunch service and check-out. The Assistants work closely with the Cub Club Supervisor on staff scheduling, lesson assignments and other tasks and projects related to the greater Bear Valley Snow Sports Department. This position requires constant positive and collaborative guest and staff interactions while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.The Cub Club Assistant requires a detailed oriented individual that excels in excellent guest service, willingness to learn technical aspects of skiing and snowboarding and an appreciation for winter sports. Individuals must be 18 or older due to binding certification requirements.Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis job description is intended as a summary of the primary responsibilities of and the qualifications for the position. When we do ask for your assistance with any job, we expect an enthusiastic and cooperative response.Welcome all guests in a friendly and professional mannerReview and plan advanced lesson reservationsMaintain a clean and safe Cub Club room at all timesCoordinate with ski and snowboard Supervisors for staff schedulingMaintain and organize daily paperworkTally and report lunch orders to the food service departmentRetrieve and transport lunch from cafeteria to Cub ClubSet up lunch for instructors to serve their classesObtain binding certifications for all ski and snowboard equipment in Cub Club.Other duties as assignedSkills and CompetenciesAbility to interact with guests on a professional levelWork in extreme winter weather conditionsPositive, flexible and enthusiastic attitudeExcellent communication and listening skillsThrives in a challenging work environmentProven ability to work with a minimum of supervision, think quickly and take initiative to address problems in a creative manner that contributes to the team effort and guest experienceAbility and desire to learn and strive for the highest teaching standardsWork SchedulesWeather, snow conditions and the number of guests play a large role in the work scheduling of Bear Valley employees.When conditions are normal, you may be expected to work 40 up to 48 hours per week, including weekends and holidays. During busy periods - especially the holiday periods in December and the months of January and February - you may be expected to work six (6) days a week.You must arrange for transportation to work so that you arrive at your designated workstation at the scheduled time. Keep in mind that you will often be required to drive on hilly, snowpacked, and icy road. Working ConditionsAt any time during the ski season, Bear Valley employees are often required to perform their tasks in high winds, heavy snowfalls, low visibility, rain, and extremely cold or warm temperatures.UniformsA professional appearance at Bear Valley is required. Please wear your name tag and uniform at all times during your scheduled shift. We will provide most of the uniform for you to do your job. This uniform is for work hours ONLY, no exceptions. You will be required to provide some items as part of your job.The quality, color, and style of the items must be approved by your manager prior to being worn to work. All hats worn must have the Bear Valley logo while on shift. The skiing/riding employee represents a model for safe skiing for both the guest and fellow employees. You are required to be aware of all safe skiing procedures, trail closures, and out-of-bounds policies of the mountain.
