As a Pet Groomer, you will bathe and clip pets according to breed-specific standards and owner preferences. You will also trim nails, clean ears, detangle hair and generally ensure that pets look and feel their best. If you are reliable, compassionate, and have a love for pets, we want to hear from you!ResponsibilitiesThe general duties of an EarthWise Pet Groomer, include but are not limited to:- Perform grooming services to breed standards and pet parents preferences- Always ensure the safety and well being of pets under their care - Develop long-term relationships with pet parents by engaging and educating our guests in a warm, friendly and inviting atmosphere- Become familiar with and understand retail products, refer products to grooming guests when appropriate- Learn and understand EarthWise Pets loyalty, savings programs, and monthly promotions- Learn and understand EarthWise Pets point of sale and scheduling system and daily procedures- Maintain grooming area cleanliness and organization- Attends store meetings and trainings- Other duties and projects as assignedBrush and detangle or remove matted furBathe dogs and cats and dry coatTrim nailsExecute a variety of clipping techniques and style requestsExamine for parasites or other skin conditionsEnsure the safety of dogs and cats at all timesAdhere to strict sanitary and cleaning proceduresCommunicate effectively and compassionately with pet ownersQualificationsPrevious experience as a dog grooming or cat grooming technician or similar roleComfortable working with anxious animalsAbility to stand for long periods and lift large dogs over 60 poundsWillingness to learn new techniques and participate in continuing educationAble to communicate effectively with coworkers, dog and cat ownersStrong attention to detailPositive, helpful attitude- Passion for pets- Inquisitiveness and desire to learn- Promotes a positive team environment by sharing knowledge and educating other team members. Engages with team members in a positive, professional, and supportive manner- Highly accountable and has integrity- Competent with basic math, comfortable using computersPhysical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items and/or pets up to and over 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Job RequirementsGeneral: Customer/Guest service and retail experience, preferably in the pet industry. Knowledge of pet related products. Demonstrated pet grooming experience with formal training certification.Working Environment: This job operates in a retail environment with merchandise displays and inventory items available for purchase.Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a variable hour position, days and hours of work will vary. This position requires the flexibility to work within our normal store operating hours, including before and/or after hours and weekends.
