Job DescriptionJob DescriptionJOB SUMMARYProvides and maintains a high standard of food service, sanitary and safety condition for patients, residents, visitors and employees as directed/instructed and in accordance with established dietary policies and procedures ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESServes meals that are timely, palatable, and appetizing in appearance and are in accordance with established portion control procedures and therapeutic diets. Assists in daily or scheduled cleaning duties in accordance with established policies and procedures to include but not limited to work tables, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers, sweep/mop floors as directed, carry soiled utensils/dishes to work areas, wash and clean utensils as directed, empty trash containers into dumpsters, clean cans and replace trash can liner Keeps work area dry and free of hazards and sanitizes dining room table and chairs Operates dish machine using proper sanitizing and safety techniques. Racks, rinses and feeds dishes into dish machineWashes pots and pans as per facility policies and procedures Places groceries, meats and supply items in appropriate storage areas as directedTransfers food trucks from dietary department to assigned areas in a safe and timely manner.Utilizes and maintains all equipment appropriately, i.e.: dish machine, coffee urn, refrigerators, mixers, blender, and toaster. Prepares and portions food items such as desserts, salads, juices, coffee, and nourishmentsAssists in inventory and proper storing of foods, supplies, etc. as directedProvides cleaning and busing of tables in dining rooms as instructed, in a courteous manner. Makes efforts to ensure that residents needs and preferences are accommodated, i.e.: alternate menus offered, special request nourishments/snacks provided upon request, etc.Role Responsibilities-Safety: Follows all safety regulations, food safety regulations and facilities policies and procedures Reports all hazardous conditions/equipment and accidents/incidents to shift supervisor Accurately take and record temperatures of food, beverages and equipment as directed by the Food Service Director, Assistant Food Service Director and/or Dietary Supervisor every mealResident Care Responsibilities-Infection Care: Demonstrates knowledge of and implements Universal Precautions and all Infection Control protocolWashes hand between resident contacts as appropriate Handle linen and disposes of waste properlyDemonstrates ability to care for residents in isolation precautions Ability to work independently, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude Ability to complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner Knowledge of environmental services Ability to understand and follow routine oral and written instructions Excellent time management skillsFlexibility with work schedule including ability to work evenings and weekends as required. Ability to work independently as well as in conjunction with other staff members and members of the team.
