Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:Position SummaryThe Mental Health Practitioner will provide direct mental health services, including individual and group skills training, to clients in a variety of settings with the goal of improving their overall functioning. Under the supervision of the Administrative Supervisor and clinical supervisor, this position involves the development and implementation of treatment plans, documentation, and coordination of services for clients. The practitioner will also engage in communication and collaboration with family members, schools, and other relevant parties to support client progress and well-being.Coordination / Communication Develop, maintain and utilize both written and verbal communication skills. Handle various aspects of the family and school coordination and communication with respects to the program. Work with school staff and other outside agencies in a professional and responsible manner on behalf of the client.Client & Family Interaction Adhere to confidentiality and mandatory reporting laws. Create and implement a mental health treatment plan that is reviewed and approved by the clinical supervisor. Provide resources and education for families, client and school staff in an effort to improve educational functioning. Identify current strengths and needs relevant to the client.Documentation and Training Complete all paperwork in an appropriate, accurate and timely manner and according to agency guidelines. Attend all continuing education and training, as mandated by the agency or licensor. Adhere to appropriate paperwork timelines so services can be billed appropriately and timely. Qualified Mental Health Practitionera. Relevant Coursework 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral sciences/related fieldsAND one of the following: 2,000 hours of supervised experience in delivery of servicesIs fluent in non-English language of the clientele ethnic group Is working in day treatment program Has completed a practicum or internship that focuses on direct interaction with adults or children served, and is focused on behavioral sciences or related fieldsb. Work Experience 4,000 hours of supervised experience in delivery of servicesOR 2,000 hours of supervised experience in delivery of services...AND receives clinical supervision as required by applicable statutes and rules from a mental health professional at least once a week until the requirement of 4,000 hours of supervised experience is metc. Graduate Student Internship Is a graduate student in behavioral sciences or related fieldsand is formally assigned by an accredited college or university to an agency or facility for clinical trainingd. Bachelors or Masters Degree Holds a masters or graduate degree in behavioral sciences or related fieldsOR Holds a bachelors degree in behavioral sciences or related fieldsAND completes a practicum or internship that requires direct interaction with adults or children served and is focused on behavioral sciences or related fieldse. Vendor of medical care2. Knowledge of parenting skills, child care methods, child development, home management and housekeeping skills, etc.3. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.4. Good decision making skills and the ability to work with minimal direction.5. Strong interpersonal and interviewing skills required.6. Ability to work with resistant clients; be non-judgmental in regards to lifestyles and/or economic status.7. Desire to work with high-risk youth and families in crisis.Physical RequirementsAbility to sit for extended periods of time while working at a desk or in meetings.Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 20 pounds.Ability to travel to schools, and other service locations as needed.Ability to use office equipment, including computers and phones, for extended periods.
