You will facilitate engaging therapy sessions, utilizing evidence-based practices while closely monitoring progress and making necessary adjustments. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, you will communicate openly with clients and their families to ensure a clear understanding of treatment goals. Experience working with older adults or individuals with disabilities is essential, as it equips you with the knowledge needed for effective interventions. Strong assessment and evaluation skills are critical for developing individualized treatment plans tailored to each client's needs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to engage effectively with residents, families, and other healthcare providers, fostering a collaborative environment. A solid understanding of adaptive equipment and assistive technology will enhance your therapeutic approach, while knowledge of geriatric conditions and related functional impairments will ensure that your care is both relevant and impactful.Occupational Therapy Assistants must be able to provide their own supervisor.
