Requirements:Must possess a minimum of a Master of Science in NursingThose six years are composed of a 4-year undergraduate nursing program followed by a 2-year nurse practitioner master's program that includes psychiatric nursingMust have a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)Prior experience in providing mental health counseling services within a clinical settingMust possess a State License to practice Nursing and it must be in good standingMust possess the knowledge base in health promotion maintenance, advanced pathophysiology, advanced health assessment and pharmacology for advanced practice nursesMust have DEA/Prescriptive authority or be able to obtain
