Job DescriptionJob DescriptionLitigation Legal AssistantCriminal LawWe are looking for a full-time Legal Assistant to join our dynamic support staff team. This position will support two or more attorneys and requires excellent multi-tasking and organization skills. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two (2) years litigation legal assistant experience in family law including divorce, child custody, child support worksheets, including experience filing in state e-file system and drafting divorce complaints . Duties/Responsibilities Include: Organize, track, and maintain original documents and electronic files in CLIOSchedule meetings, deadlines, and maintain attorney calendars.Administrative operations such as: trust deposits; check requests, expense reimbursementFile documents with the courts or other government entitiesCompile closing binders/legal documents for transmission to clientPerform initial assessment of project/matter deliverables and requirementsDrafting, proofing, and finalizing legal documentsCompose correspondence/responses that deal with legal subject matter requiring considerable discretion and judgmentTrack status of tasks and documents requiring action by client/prospective clientContact state and federal courts or agenciesPerform records research, review, and analysisCommunicate and meet with clients, as needed Required Skills/Abilities: 2+ years of litigation legal assistance experience in criminal defenseExcellent written and verbal communication skills are requiredExcellent organizational and time management skillsMust be a self-starter, professional, and team playerAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to changing prioritiesProficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, various flowcharting programs, performing background searches and public record searchesFamiliarity with electronic filings with governmental entities and document management systems.
